Deirdre: Conas tá tú, a Shéamais? Ní fhaca mé thú le tamall.
How are you, Seamas? I haven't seen you for a while.

Séamas: Tá áthas orm tú a fheiceáil. Aon scéal?
I'm glad to see you. Any news?

Deirdre: Bhuaigh Treasa duais mhór sa Chrannchur Náisiúnta.
Theresa has one a big prize in the National Lottery.

Séamas: Ar bhuaigh? Níor chuala mé é sin in aon chor. An raibh tú ag caint léi?
Really? I hadn't heard this at all. Have you talked aith her?

Deirdre: Ní raibh. A deartháir a dúirt liom é.
I haven't. It was her daughter who told me.

Séamas: Céard a rinne sí leis an airgead?
What did she do with the money?

Deirdre: Cheannaigh sí carr di féin agus ceann dá muintir.
She bought a car for herself and her family.

Séamas: An ndearna? An-smaoineamh. Níor cheannaigh mise ticéad riamh. Cad fútsa?
Did she? [???] I have never bought a ticket myself. Have you?

Deirdre: Ceannaím ceann gach seachtain, ach níor bhuaigh mé faic fós.
I buy one every week, but I have never won anything.

Iriseoir: Cathain a tháinig tú go Nua-Eabhrac?
Mícheál: Trí bliana ó shin.
Iriseoir: Cén fáth ar fhág tú Éire?
Mícheál: Níor éirigh liom post a fháil nuair a d'fhág mé an scoil.
Iriseoir: An ea? An ndearna tú an Ardteist?
Mícheál: Rinne, ach ní dhearna mé ró mhaith ann.
Iriseoir: Tuigim. Ar chuir tú isteach ar mórán postanna?
Mícheál: Chuir mé isteach ar roinnt. Ach bhí fonn orm teacht anseo.
Iriseoir: An bhfuair tú post láithreach?
Mícheál: Ní bhfuair. Thóg sé tamall uaim.
Iriseoir: Cén sórt oibre a fuair tú?
Mícheál: Bhí mé ag obair i mbialann ar dtús. Níor fhan mé ann ach sé mhí.
Iriseoir: Agus ansin?
Mícheál: Fuair mé post i ngaráiste ach níor thaitin sé liom.
Iriseoir: Nár thaitin? Cén fáth?
Mícheál: Ní raibh an pá ró-mhaith.
Iriseoir: Ní raibh, is dócha. An ndeachaigh tú abhaile ó shin?
Mícheál: Chuaigh mé ann ar feadh míosa anuraidh.
Iriseoir: Ar mhaith leat fanacht anseo?
Mícheál: Níor mhaith. B'fhearr liom dul abhaile.

Yep, Tom Hiddleston and Anthony Hopkins in a scenery eating contest is still the most awesome thing to grace my TV screen since ... well, since Katherine Hepburn, Peter O'Toole, and Anthony Hopkins in Lion in Winter. Om nom nom nom nom.

I swear I got up on time and somehow I ended up being lateish on my exercises. Oops. On the other hand Irish went quick, so at least I got the rest of them done after that. Also ow. I tried working on the exercises with weights on my arms. Ow.

Did at least manage to get most of the Julien/Syd story out last night, and now I just have to finish it up and strip the edits out of that and the other draft, maybe, and then send to my inside source to check which of the now-three stories would be most suitable for submission. Edits on Subversive Mummies, drafting something for the other place, and that's more than enough for today, particularly with translations. I don't have anything in particular for Russian practice today. Might just dig for verbs I haven't gone over and do those. I think... no, yeah, I intend today to work on Subversive Mummies in the morning and then further drafts for stories in the afternoon. If only I could come up with some damn thing for the third market I intend to submit to.

Actually, if I'm very lucky with that, I should be able to do edits on Subversive mummies tonight, too, and get a fair chunk of THAT done soon. Which would be awesome because then it's Blood in the Gutters and oh dear god what is that thing.

Also yesterday (I swear I have to remind myself to put not-writing news in here) I took a wild hair and cleaned the patio. Pesach cleaning may end up happening a little later than usual. I don't know why. I think because my body/subconscious/chi is reacting to the coldass weather and going "It's not spring yet! It's not spring yet it's not spring yet it's not HEY IT'S SPRING CLEAN ALL THE THINGS." Fucking weather. But that's done and possibly tomorrow evening there will be more hauling shit out of the garage. If I manage to achieve an empty garage I will be all the stoked.

Adopt one today! Adopt one today! Adopt one today! Adopt one today! Adopt one today! Adopt one today! Adopt one today!
