Well that was something I never thought I'd do; put my Irish skills that I've learned so far to actual live and in person use. I think I was more terrified than I've been with almost any other language.
Didn't get even half of my dance exercises done today, but given the givens and how late I was up last night I'm not sure I'm surprised. I'll try to do some tomorrow morning instead. Really, if I was being smart, I would have done that in the first place, but if I hadn't done my push-ups I never would have, and I'm up to 25 in sets of 5. I want to get up higher than that, and more, I want to stay there this time. So. Dance exercises happen often anyway just because I like to dance. And yet, this morning, I still have a sleepy.
But ALTAN. Altan Altan Altan. It was awesome. They were much more low energy than Leahy, which given their style is actually to be expected, but they were also their own kind of beautiful and the singer was gorgeous and her voice and accent were gorgeous and the men with her were hilarious with their jokes and she spoke in Irish and I got to fucking speak Irish. I can't even begin to tell you how awesome that was. Even if it was only just the basics of please and thank you and other stuff. SO COOL. Of all the languages I never expected to put to use Irish is slightly above Sindarin. ... actually, no, I go to cons, I'd have a better chance of being able to speak Sindarin, Quenya, or Klingon to other people. Irish Irish Irish. And songs. And there were songs in Irish THAT I FUCKING RECOGNIZED. Not from Altan specifically because I'd never heard their variation on it, but just in general, from listening to lots of Irish music. It was AWESOME.
Ahem. Right. Today's statement of intent. I intend to survive this day, mostly. I have my exercises for Russian and German, I intend to do the damn line edits and tagbacks on CS. I don't seem to be getting sick anymore, or at least if I am, it's a lot less than yesterday, which is very good. Line edits, languages, and tagbacks seem to be good enough for during the day. If I have time maybe I'll outline a blog post on synopsis writing, somehow.
