Finally finished the story for submission, in an explosion of realization about how the story pulled itself together. Not just that short story, but the whole overall story. There was a lot of "Oh that's how this world works" and a whole lot of swearing. Seriously, there were clusters of the chat log that consisted entirely of "......" and "FUCK. FUCKITY FUCK." And other variations on that theme. And that's done, and mostly, notes have been written on it, though I also need to write notes on it in the overall so that now that I've got it straight I can keep it straight when a couple weeks have passed. Though it seems to be tattooing itself on the inside of my skull or something. Seriously, the ways in which all of this just slot together like running a video game with quests and plot coupons is creepy.

Still, that means today's statement of intent is do four scenes worth of line edits to start making up for all the line edits I didn't do yesterday. And bang on the translations of the tool-index page for Russian and possibly the character questionnaire, since I think I'm almost done with the writing tools index page in Russian. And the questionnaire some more in German, for practice on that.

Oof. And I have notepads and highlighters, for taking down paper-and-pen notes. Forgot to get the folders to put them in, but maybe I'll just keep them in one of my clipboard boxes and paperclip all the relevant ones together. Gah, this world. It's big and complex and it's only unpeeling a bit at a time and it's annoying. Still, at least the one submission is done. Even if I worry that it's a bit grimdark, and so will end up writing another one for something more cheerful. Probably something out of the next anthology, which is more upbeat and cheerful in general.
