PEPPER IN THE SUIT PEPPER IN THE SUIT PEPPER IN THE SUIT PEPPER IN THE SUIT PEPPER IN THE SUIT PEPPER IN THE SUIT

So, um. Yeah. Apparently the Iron Man 3 trailer is out. Or one of them. And the rest of it and Ben Kingsley's weirdass villain voice can fuck right off because PEPPER IN THE SUIT. IN THE FUCKING SUIT.

So, that happened. And then necessitated listening to Black Sabbath on repeat for about thirty minutes. I really need a Pepper Potts icon. Stat.

Russian writing-tools index page is about half-finished. I keep having my doubts as to how useful such a thing would be in Russian, but then I wonder, aren't some of these things (character building worksheet, mostly) kind of universal? Hopefully? Am I under- or over-estimating cultural impact as an important factor of writing fiction or fanfiction and... am I just over thinking it? Argh.

Still, as a translation exercise at least, it's worth doing. So, getting that done, reading over some German for [personal profile] lireavue and getting that done, and slowly but surely in general Getting Shit Done. Bit by slow bit. Statement of intent hasn't changed, line edits and submission 2nd draft finishing, and Juke Joint Jezebel if there's time after that. Definitely feeling more capable of doing shit now that I got some sleep. And, you know. Possibly with some Black Sabbath, KMFDM, and Carfax Abbey and other such blasting in the background. Some days you just gotta put on the rock music and have at.

Writing, especially fiction writing, is stupidly culturally-impacted. Less so with fanfiction, since there you have a set source material that, yes, gets interpreted variously depending on culture/viewer/reader/etc., but it's still a set of specific aspects of canon which can be fallen back on.

Original fiction? AHAHAH all bets are off. When I am coming (hopefully) for D*C, I'll try to drag with a few books, more Lukyanenko and some Perumov for you to exercise Russian... the more you know a language, the more you understand the culture, and the differences sort of. Pop up at you.

Very much augh.

But it's possible to stat with what you have and open up for suggestions by native speakers in the respective language?

That is a thing that sometimes happens, yes. Though idioms are just plain tricky. LIKE HOBBITSES!
