The negative marker ní and the question marker an

A negative statement is made by putting ní, which causes lenition, before the verb, and a question by putting an, which causes eclipsis, before it.

Ní théim. I don't go.

Ní théimid/Ní théann muid. We don't go.

Ní sheasann tú. You don't stand.

Ní sheasann sí. She doesn't stand.
Ní sheasaimid/Ní seasann muid. We don't stand.

An dtéimid/An dtéann muid?
An dtéann sibh?
An dtéann siad?

Some examples of questions and answers are given here. Again, there are no equivalents to Yes or No in Irish, and a generic reply can be formed by using the appropriate form of déanann (does).

An itheann tú cáis? Do you eat cheese?
Ithim. Yes. (Lit. I eat.=
Déanaim. I do.

An bhfanann tú in óstán i gcónai? Do you always stay in a hotel?
Ní fhanaim. I don't (stay).
Ní dhéanaim.

An gceannaíonn tú páipéar nuachta? Do you buy a newspaper?
Ní cheannaím. I don't (buy).
Ní dhéanaim. I don't.

I can still conjugate verbs. This is still the awesomest thing ever. Until the next awesome thing.

It's starting to sink in that if this house deal really is going to go through, the packing should start back up again. Which, oh dear god. Do not want. But at least a fair chunk of it is already done, and then we'll have two or three weeks while the big construction is going on where we can pack, move things over, pack some more. Maybe steal a pallet or two out of the basement of the store to put things up off the floor in the garage and start piling up the plastic boxes. things like that.

Don' wanna go to work. Don' wanna deal with all the crap I have to deal with. Wanna curl up and watch stupid TV shows and Jeremy Renner and... damn, who the hell was I drooling over last night. Him too, whoever that was. But, you know. Responsible adulthood. Sometimes it's a good thing. Like the part where if I keep this up I get a house that is pretty much the real-life version of the house of my dreams. (The house of my dreams also has a hugeass library and secret passages, but that would seriously be pushing it.) That's the reward for being a responsible adult. Also being able to eat Reese's cups for breakfast. Not that I did. But I coudl have. If I wanted to.

Anything you especially like should be packed and moved yourself. Don't trust movers with the little things - sofas, yes, keepsakes NO.

Jeremy Renner was on an Angel ep. I freaked out my movie-buff friend with this knowledge, because I'd actually heard of him first.

I keep having ice cream for breakfast. It's homemade, at least?
