Regular weak verbs in the simple past:
In the simple past tense, regular weak verbs add the past-tense marker -te to the infinitive stem. Regular weak verbs with a stem ending in -d or -t (reden or arbeiten) and verbs like regnen and öffnen insert an -e before the tense marker. The addition of the -e ensures that the -t is audible.

e.g.
machen, machte
sagen, sagte
reden, redete
arbeiten, arbeitete
regnen, regnete

ich machte, du machtest, er machte, wir machten, ihr machtet, sie machten
ich redete, du redetest, sie redete, wir redeten, ihr redetet, sie redeten

Hey, the German's finally starting to look like sentences instead of having to look up every third word and figure out the grammar. Holy crow. Of course, this doesn't mean I'll be able to put it into grammar quite as well as I'd like, but that'll come.

Still doing better with the energy, but also kind of scatterbrained. Which is to say, I have energy, but I'm flitting about with what to do with it. That's not very much like progress. And I can't tell if it's a plus side or not that things are slow today. I suppose it's kind of a plus side, now the only thing I have to do apart from day-job type work (tidying and so on) is work on Black Ice and the other outline, and occasionally do lines in Russian. I can manage that. Possibly starting with writing down the lines in Russian so I don't forget what I was going to study there.

I'm having one of those persistent weird feelings like I'm watching my own life. Not like I'm watching my life pass me by, more like, I'm standing outside myself watching this small woman do things with bemused detachment. I'm not sure I like it, but I'm not sure it's a bad thing, either. Maybe I just need more sleep.
