-Доброе утро, Антон -не представляясь начал шеф. - С возвращением. Узнал?
С каких-то пор звонки Гесера я начал чувствовать. Будто менялась трель телефона, обретала требовательный, властный оттенок.
Но говорить шефу об этом я не спешил.
-Узнал, Борис Игнатьевич.
-Один? -спросил Гесер.
Ненужный вопрос. Уверен, что Гесер прекрасно знает, где сейчас Светлана.

"Good morning, Anton," the boss began, without introducing himself. "Welcome back. Did you know it was me?"
I'd been able to sense Gesar's calls for some time already. It was as if the trilling of the phone changed subtly, becoming more demanding and authoritative.
But I was in no rush to let the boss know that.
"Yes, Boris Ignatievich."
"Are you alone?"
An unnecessary question. I was certain Gesar knew perfectly well where Svetlana was just then.

[etiquette phrase] [proper noun] [negating particle] [verb...something. reflexive] [verb past tense] [noun] [etiquette phrase] [verb past tense] (and it's interesting to note that the English explicates what the Russian implies.)
[not sure how to parse this phrase, but it's a phrase? temporal phrase] [noun plural] [proper noun genitive] [pronoun] [verb past tense] [verb infinitive].

I could have done without that. On my walk this morning when a guy comes trawling down the street at the top of the park, going so slowly (and at my heels, too) that he barely had to slow down to talk to me. And he rolls down his window and asks about the red car in the car parking lot. Says it's been there since last night. I tell him sorry, I don't know anything about it, and keep walking. By the time he rolled down his window I was at the paved path curving down to the parking lot anyway, off the sidewalk next to his car, so he would have had to really announce his intent by getting out of the car, but it still creeped me the fuck out. More than the empty car in the parking lot. What didn't help was when he backed up the street while I was on the other side of the park's parking lot, like he was looking for something. Maybe trying to check for the car's license plate. Or maybe looking to see if I was still there. Fuck knows.

Being a woman means the guy actually in the truck is scarier than the empty car he's supposedly warning you about. Being a woman means I am going armed in the park for the next few days. It means if you are trawling your fucking Toyota Tundra on my heels and I don't know you, I am not going near you unless there are many, many people around, and maybe not even then. Being a woman means everything in the park is a potential weapon if he gets out of his truck and comes down after me, from the pavement to the rocks to my iPod cord to the park bench. Also, I go for the soft bits. Like your throat.

So, that happened. Yeah. Not what I need right now, I'm barely running on the energy to get through the day as it is. Honestly, I'm shocked that I haven't gotten sick yet. I already know the stress of the last several months is affecting me physically. At least I know I'm not pregnant, but it's been two weeks and counting. No other symptoms, so I'm blaming the stress.

Fuck everything. I'll be in my cave if you need me.

That is CREEPY. Be less creepy, creepy man.

Good luck getting through the rest of the house-buying stress. If it helps to know that's normal, I was punching people in the face in my sleep during the entirety of ours, and thought I was pregnant once. XD
