Yeah, that's exactly what I was afraid of. The water, that is, I don't know about the heat, I'd have to investigate. Though I do know the entire house isn't rusted out galvanized pipes, we removed some of the paneling and saw both plastic pipes and good galvanized pipes. The problem is that probably somewhere we didn't look at is cracked pipe, and I really, really hate not knowing where/what the fuck is going on.
So, yeah. This irks me. It's irksome. Boy and I were both too exhausted at the end of the day to discuss it, so I'll dig into some research today. At least we have backup houses, though none so nice. :/
And, really, this is why I wanted the inspection fucking weeks ago. Goddamn selling bank. On further reading of the inspector's report the problem seems to be somewhere in the utility room, so it's probably not a tear out all the floors in the house problem, it's just... finding the damn thing. If possible. I don't even on the heating. I'll dig into the laws/have Realty Lady dig into the laws today.
