Every time I see that scene I wonder, what was he doing up there? Was he just like, "Hm, I'm bored. Think I'll go play on the ceiling now!" Maybe he's got an escape tunnel up there. Or a secret stash of whatever he keeps in his flask. And yeah, the fact that he stayed in jail-- hell, the fact that he allowed himself to be caught in the first place-- tells me that he'd always planned to end up a victim of the curse. There's gotta be something in it for him when it's broken.
