Yeah. Rumple in both forms strikes me as a "I am not a jealous man. I just don't like people touching my things!" kind of guy. Hopefully being 100% curse free would cure that.
He looks kind-of sincere when he's handing her the rose? Maybe he has fits of sanity between his madness. Actually, he seemed pretty calm during his first interaction with James as well. Maybe the madness is just part of the act.
Granny would be a good candidate. Her contempt for him in Storybrooke seems to run deep, so it could stem from dealings she'd had with him in Fairy Tale World. And more Ruby/Gold is never a bad thing. Though now that we've seen the trailer, I have a hankering for Ruby putting a jealous Gold in his place. As for what she gave him...hm. Well, maybe she bakes really good bread, and Rumple couldn't resist a basket.
Aesthetics are definitely important when it comes to my acceptance of a given portmanteau. Some of them are just awful. On the other hand, some can be clever. I'll always be amused by the "ASS ship" from Harry Potter. (Albus Severus/Scorpius) It helps that Albus Severus was cursed with a terrible name.
