That's probably it, but it still irritates me when Donovan's all "That's unbelievable!" No, no it's not you unmitigated twit. It's just faster than you can make connections, the evidence is right there. Of course, if they treated it more realistically it wouldn't have made for a very good story, but it still makes me want to chew things. Also the fact that Lestrade basically arrested Sherlock with no evidence whatsoever other than that Sherlock was faster with the labwork.
(I think that was one of the things that made me stop watching Bones, with the title character picking people's gum out of trash cans to use for DNA evidence. It's a TRASH CAN. There is now who-knows-what on that gum, not to mention on the napkin you used to grab it. Trash cans are cesspools of DNA.)
