たらどうですか after a verb conveys advice or recommendation. The initial た in たらどうですか stands for the same ending as in the past tense short form of a verb in the affirmative. In casual speech, たらどうですか may be shortened to だらどう or たら.

もっと勉強したらどうですか。
Why don't you study harder?

くすりを飲んだらどうですか。
How about taking some medicine?

たらどうですか may sometimes have a critical tone, criticizing the person for not having performed the activity already. It is therefore safer not to use it unless tapped for consultation.

Also, the pattern is not to be used for extending invitations. If, for example, you want to tell your friend to come visit, you do not want to use たらどうですか but instead ませんか.

Yes: 家に来ませんか
No: 家に来たらどうですか。

Nouns denoting occupations: Corresponding to English -er, -or, Irish also has endings with -r. The names of occupations are all masculine (no lenition) and the formation progresses as follows
-eoir + feirm (a farm, f) = an feirmeoir (the farmer)
-teoir + múin (teach) = an múinteoir (the teacher)
-óir + léacht (a lecture, f) = an léachtóir (the lecturer)
-óir + stiúir (a direction, f) = an stiúrthóir (the director)
-(a)dóir + dlí (law, m) = an dlíodóir (the lawyer)
-(a)dóir + siopa (a shop, m) = an siopadóir (the shopkeeper)

Some other names of occupations have different -r endings and are not formed from any simpler word:

-úir, an dochtúir (the doctor)
-éir, an siúinéir (the carpenter)

All of these have plurals in í, e.g. na múinteoirí (the teachers).

Other words denoting occupations (also masculine) are formed with -(a)í
rún (a secret), an rúnaí (the secretary)
amhrán (a song), an amhránaí (the singer)

These have plurals in -the, e.g. na rúnaithe (the secretaries).

So. It is fucking freezing out, I have officially gone to fuck this morning parkour walk shit, I'm jumping rope instead. In practice, I have no idea what this will do to my exercise regimen. In theory, it'll work out evenly over the winter. Either way, I don't have to go out and shiver for forty five minutes or so. Depending on how much that speeds up my morning cardio, I might end up falling over napping and/or noodling on the guitar some more. Wheeee!

I had a thing. There was a thing I had, that I was braining. Heh, my electric bill, for one. Yay not having to pay this one or a chunk of the next one, although admittedly, mostly because I was a dumbshit and ended up paying twice in one month. And then I wondered why I was so broke until I balanced my books again. Still, I'm glad our usage was low enough to stretch that through two billing periods.

Speaking of guitar, I randomly poked my chords website this morning for new chords to learn and discovered that I actually know sixteen chords. That's thirteen more than you need to know to play a protest song. Go me.

It's Friday. I can't begin to tell you how glad I am that it's Friday, it's the last day of running around like a madwoman at work, hopefully UPS won't have too much in the way of crazy emergency outgoing and I can be up at the front all day because if today is anything like yesterday, it'll be five minutes of peace in between ten, fifteen minutes of absolute chaos. Which is only like absolut vodka in that I'll be wanting some when it's all over. I should not read Warren Ellis before I've had a chance to boot up the brain completely, his speech patterns affect my thinking and then it's all swear words and elaborate rambling sentences meant to both convey a point and sicken and titillate the reader from thereon out.

I should haul my ass out of this chair and go to work. I really don't want to. Baby, it's cold outside.
