Prefixed verbs of motion:

The dialogues in this unit contain several verbs of motion with prefixes:

Мы только что приехали. We just arrived.
Вы уезжаете 15-го? Are you leaving on the 15th?
Они уедут, и вы получите номера. They will leave and you will get the rooms.
Ключей от номера нет. Я не могу войти. I don't have my room keys, can't get in.
Красная стрела отходит в полночь. The Red Arrow departs (the platform) at midnight.
Подойдите через час. Come up (to the desk) in an hour.

The prefixes give information about the direction and extent of the action. The stems give information about the type of motion.

при - arrival
у- departure
в- entrance (into)
вы- exit (out of)
от- motion away from something nearby
пере- motion across
под- motion towards something nearby
про- motion for a measured distance or past something
до- motion reaching a goal

ходить/йти - motion under one's own power
езжать/ехать - motion in some vehicle

to arrive (on foot) continuous: прихожу, приходишь, приходят, приходил, приходила, приходили
to arrive (on foot) simple: приду, придёшь, придут, пришёл, пришла, пришли
to arrive (by vehicle) continuous: приезжаю, приезжаешь, приезжаят, приезжал, приезжала, приезжали
to arrive (by vehicle) simple: приеду, приедешь, приедут, приехал, приехала, приехали


Grammar is yay! Much less yay is jamming my pinky toenail, ow. That hurt. Also potentially less yay is the orange chicken recipe I bastardized last night with orange-mango juice. That may or may not have turned out as well as I wanted it to. We will see at lunch.

The weather keeps threatening to dump crap on us, but so far I haven't seen any sign of it. Of course, what'll probably happen is it'll start coming down when I'm at work. On the other/amusing hand, Elf Lord got me a winter coat for Christmas and gave it to me yesterday because I think they're tired of ... something. Me shivering? Or looking at me and going "god she must be cold." Of course, since they bought me a winter jacket now it's warming up to about freezing temperature. Go figure.

Human Target! Huuuuuuuuman Target. I can't say as the pacing was entirely good, and the soundtrack should not be that dissonant to what's going on in the episode, but other than that they did a much better job. The dialogue was snappy, Ilsa challenged Guerrero and almost won except for the fact that he was right, Ames didn't fawn over Guerrero nearly so much... Chance was his usual snarky self. I love this show. It's good cheesy popcorn fun, and Jackie Earle Haley is awesome. And Mark Valley is awesome. And the show is awesome. And Indira Varma is really holding her own against everyone. And I have a cat on my chest. Cat, I'm getting up soon, you have plenty of opportunity to use me for a bed earlier and you didn't take it. Tough.

Argh, now he's being warm and spreading out and laying down. Where's the crowbar. Or my willpower.
