In German, masculine and neuter nouns expressing measure, weight, or number are in the singular. Feminine nouns expressing the same are in the plural. e.g. Sie trinkt zwei Tassen Kaffee.
Wie viel brauchen Sie?
e.g. Wie viel Kaffee brauchen Sie? Ich brauche ein Pfund Kaffee.
1. Wie viel Kartoffeln brauchen Sie? Ich brauche funf Kilo Kartoffeln.
2. Und wie viel Kase? Ich brauche zwei hundert Gramm Kase.
3. Wie viel Milch brauchen Sie? Ich brauche zwei Liter Milch.
4. Wie viel Fisch? Ich brauche zwei Pfund Fisch.
5. Und Tee? Ich brauche hundert Gramm Tee.
6. Und wie viel Bananen brauchen Sie? Ich brauche ein Kilo Bananen.
7. Wie viel Wurst? Ich brauche hundert funfzehn Gramm Wurst.
Okay. I can officially stop taking on projects now. Please? So far I have, oh, let's do this in list form:
-- Sandstorm's Daughter (Original BigBang)
-- Mad Angel Blues (Novel BigBang)
-- Barton Hall Irregulars: Rites of Spring (Poly BigBang)
-- First Book (Nanowrimo)
-- Store Blog
-- Store Twitter
-- Spinning
And I'm pretty sure that's not even all the projects right now, but oh my god isn't that enough? I need a break. I need a rest. I need to actually go to bed early tonight. And not try to do three things at once like I'm doing. Although, really, one exercise in German is enough. And I still have one more shirt to boil.
Tie-Dye Diaries: 1/4 cup Urea, 1 pint water, divided into three portions of 1/2 tsp dye each in a squeeze bottle. Bright color, shallow saturation, which might also have to do with how I applied it, all on the surface. Set almost 24 hours. Rinsed for 5 minutes, then boiled for 15, then rinsed again. Some color washed out, not a lot, but definitely a less brightness.
Next time: Boil, then rinse.
Tired. Still need to do a fair bit of writing. But tired, and able to at least start winding down now, which I like. I can do this. I just need to breathe and keep going.
And I wish it would stop raining so I could bring my wheel home. I mean, I could throw a towel over it and carry it fromt he store to the car, from the car to the apartment, but I don't want to do that. It's a good wheel. It doesn't deserve that.
