В городе есть...
To name points of interest in your city use this structure:
В нашем городе/У нас в городе + есть + nominative case

В нашем городе есть интересный музей.
У нас в городе есть большой университет.

To say that your city does not have something, use this structure:
В нашем городе/У нас в городе + нет + genitive case

В нашем городе нет библиотеки.
У нас в городе нет площади.

Составьте предложения.
1. большая центральная площадь -- В нашем городе есть большая центральная площадь.
2. кафе -- У нас в городе есть кафе.
3. старая маленькая библиотека -- В нашем городе нет старой маленькой библиотеки. Есть старая большая библиотека.
4. знаменитый университет -- У нас в городе нет знаменитых университетов.
5. хороший музей -- В нашем городе есть хороший музей.
6. большой спортивный зал -- У нас в городе нет большого спортивного зала. Есть маленький спортивный зал.
7. новая почта -- В нашем городе нет новой почты.

To say that a thing has something, use the structure где + есть + что. The word есть is not always necessary, especially when there is a modifier in the sentence.
В городе есть библиотека.
В библиотека есть интересные книги.
В этих книгах цветные фотографии.
На фотографиях - наш город.

To say that a person has something, use the structure у кого + есть + что.
У меня есть брат.
У брата есть новая соседка.
У его новой соседки есть собака.

To say that a thing or person does not have something use где (for places) or у кого (for people) + нет + чего.
В городе нет библиотеки.
У меня нет брата.




Okay, I'll save Spanish practice for tonight, since apparently today is the day of answering pups in Spanish. I posted an entry for a pup in Spanish mostly out of sheer amusement and giggle value, and it had to do with pants. And then someone tagged also in Spanish, so I had to reply in kind, and now it's just escalated. And the other person either doesn't have a more realworld type experience with Spanish or is using an online translator. Albeit a decent one. I giggle. ... Or not a decent one. Never mind. That was kind of funny, though. I couldn't make sense of the words, I had to ask someone.

Oogh. Need to remember that negative possession means genitive form. Also how to type. And to clean out my keyboard or, well, something. My 'n' key (actually the 'y' key in the English keyboard but it was while I was doing the Russian that it got annoying) kept not entering.

Work is going to be interesting today. I've got painkillers in case this unsettled feeling in my girlie parts turns into downright crankiness and pain, but I hope it won't. No headache or muscle aches, really, or at least, none that can't be explained by exercise. And I've got a lot of work to do, no time to waste on feeling like crap. And I get to try my soup today! I have a wariness, as I do with most forms of vegetables in soup, but it smelled good. This is what I get for not being used to vegetable soups.
