Russian! It's... getting easier. I think. A lot of the idioms and semantics of this are escaping me, sometimes until I get two or three lines further down.

4. Дом книги
-- Коля, ты знаешь куда я сегодня ходила?
Kolya, you know where I today went?

-- Куда?
Where?

-- В «Дом книги»
To the bookstore.

-- Мне сказали, что там открыли новый отдел. Ты была?
I was told that they'd opened a new department [store?]. [there's an idiom here]

-- Да, и даже купила вот эту новую книгу по искусству.
Yes, and I even bought this new book on art.

-- Авангардисты? Интересно. А сколько она стоила?
Avant-garde? Interesting. How much was it?

-- Сто шестьдесят пять.
Hundred and sixty-five.

-- Это совсем не дорого! А импрессионисты были?
That's not very expensive! And the impressionists? [roughly]

-- Были, но теперь их уже нет.
There were, but they are already gone.

5. С днём рождения!
-- Маша, с днём рождения! Я купил тебе маленький подарок.
Masha, Happy Birthday! I got you a small gift.

-- Ой, Пелевин! Я уже давно хотела его почитать. Откуда ты узнал?
[bzughauthorname.] I've coveted [using a stronger verb b/c of the words used] him for a while. Whence did you find out?

-- Миша мне посоветовал купить тебе книгу.
Misha advised me to get you a book.

-- Но откуда ты узнал, что я люблю Пелевина?
But how did you find out that I like [bzfgughd;kjfhgsfname! Pelevin?]

-- Ты же недавно сама говорила о Пелевине.
You recently talked about Pelevin. [Hell, I'm going with that.]

-- Какой ты молодец! Спасибо тебе огромное.
How wonderful! [more lit. How well done of you?] Thank you very much.
