Present tense of Wissen

Ich weiß, du weißt, er weiß, wir wissen, ihr wisst, sie wissen, Sie wissen.

Die Universität Heidelberg. David ist Amerikaner und möchte etwas über die Universität Heidelberg wissen. Er spricht mit Barbara und Karin. Karin studiert da. Ergänzen Sie ihren Dialog mit den passenden Formen von wissen.

DAVID: Du Barbara. Was weißt du über die Universität Heidelberg?
BARBARA: Nicht viel. Aber ich glaube, Karin weiß viel darüber.
KARIN: Na, alle Leute wissen, dass Heidelberg die älteste Universität Deutschlands ist.
BARBARA: So? Das wissen wir alle? Weißt du denn, wie alt?
KARIN: Natürlich. Im Jahre 1986 war sie 600 Jahre alt.
DAVID: Da ist ja wirklich alt.


Little tired. But getting a lot of research done and actually getting some writing done. I may even have everything I meant to do today, done, which would be a first. I wonder if that means I overestimate myself or I deliberately add in one or two more things that I could be doing so that I'm never without something to do. On the whole, though, I don't mind too much. At this rate I'll get done everything that I need to get done, and the things that wait a little bit are the things that can wait.

Oof. Gearing up for Nano, and starting to realize that research is a pain in the ass. Or rather, realize again, that research is a pain in the ass. I need to, I think, stick to the questions I've asked myself rather than go around in circles. There are some things that I need to establish more closely. Dialect patterns, for one. (Fortunately Nameless would have been speaking and learning English at a time when Chaucer was writing, so, heh. There's another French writer, too, so that may be of some use.) Fortunately this is mostly historical research, which is familiar and accustomed. It's the space research that's going to get me. I need to... I guess that's the thing I need to do after I finish detailing the factions in that novel. Figure out what I need to research and/or determine.

And. Then again, I don't know. I don't intend to actually publish either of these, so maybe I'm putting too much effort into this. Or maybe I'm only putting too much effort into this if I let it stress me out, which, so far, it hasn't. So there's that. I do enjoy research, much as I bitch and moan about it. I guess the thing to do is to stick to the outline, asking questions that are relevant to the outline, and then answering them and not getting sidetracked on who had what territory or all the various possibilities for interstellar travel, blah blah blah.

Two bills paid, today. That makes me feel somewhat better. As soon as I get my credit card bill I'll pay that off in its entirety, and then ... something. Figuring out what to do for Christmas. Right now, I think, it's time to get out a garbage bag and start stuffing all those clothes into it that I sorted out of my wardrobe and onto my closet floor. And then, more writing work.

It's times like this that I really feel like a writer, and am proud to be one.
