Out till midnight last night with the boy and the pirate. Up till oh-dark-thirty or so with Sophie, editing five pages, the minimum I should do every day. Oogh.

Went to dinner. Had nummy potato soup and a really really good salad I now have to go back for. Pecan-crusted chicken, salad greens, cranberries, more pecans, mandarin slices, balsamic vinagrette, blue cheese. So tasty. I need to go back there and get it again. So, so tasty. Talked about stuff. Wore my glasses and the funny thing was, the pirate didn't say anything for fear that he hadn't noticed them the last four or five times he'd seen me. Hah. Well, he's a dear.

Saw Narnia. It was faboo. I cried like a baby in parts. Narnia, hell, I grew up on Narnia. I was blinking a bit when they started off with the Blitz, but it didn't intrude too badly. The children were perfect (except the occasional me wondering where the hell blonde-haired blue-eyed Peter came from) and the house was perfect and the professor, HAH! "What do they teach children in school these days?" One of three lines that I hoped made it into the movie.

Also the bit about "Hence the weeping." was hilarious.

The wardrobe was a bit more ornate... bah. I'm having to complain about the little things because everything was so cool. I noted with girlish delight that Lucy never completely closed herself in the wardrobe, because of course one should not close oneself in a wardrobe. And Edmund did. Because Edmund is a silly head. There was turkish delight, and no Edmund pulling the sleigh, which I was worried would be a little too... something. And Mr Tumnus! Oh, I did adore Mr Tumnus. He was perfect. I loved the siblings bickering and the beavers! And Peter's comment about making him into a hat!

I loved how Liam Neeson didn't have enough lines to where I went "Yeah, that's Liam Neeson." Or maybe there was some rumble to his voice. I'm not sure. I loved the encampment, and the boys and girls training. Lucy throwing the knife was a bit too too, but that's all right. The Peter Wolfsbane thing, I think, left out the part about clean your sword, never sheathe it sticky with blood. I think that was in the book. I could be wrong, it's been ages.

The stone table was a bit different from what I pictured, which was more of a stonehengy slabby thingie. It didn't detract as it was, though. I loved the Jadis and the sacrifice bit and how they kept in the shaving. And then she turned up wearing his mane! Chee. Viciousness at its best. I loved Peter and Edmund leading the charge. That was SO COOL. Also, Edmund and Philip. Heeeee. Just hee all over. And then, they took out the bit, shortened the whole scene in general but took out the bit about "What is this, more magic?" and the "Yes! It is more magic!" that I wanted, but oh well.

And they kept in the bit about him not being a tame lion! CHEEEEE! And the adults. I agree with April, Peter-grown looked.. ugh. But the rest of them were gorgeous! And then the end with the wardrobe and the stumbling out and the blink blink young again. And THEN. The very very end with the professor and that was so, so cool.

I need to re-read those books. What I might wind up doing is getting a set for people for Christmas and one for myself. Which is going to be frikkin' expensive, but hey. 'tis the season. Um.

And then we all went back to the pirate's lair and laid around. And then we went out for milkshakes and fries at about 10.30, at Frisch's, which was the only place that was local and open and had both, really. The way you do when you're at college, which I'm not anymore, so that was fun. Funnier because I'd made some crack about 'so, who wants ice cream' when we were all freezing outside and walking to the car, and then half an hour later he's all "I want ice cream. you're evil." And then fries. We get to the restaurant and I'm all "now I want fries." and then we get seated and he's "Now I want fries. You're really evil." Why yes. Yes I am.

All in all, a good day. And now I go get breakfast and probably sit around writing and editing. Maybe going to Trader's World. Mmm Trader's World. Big effin' flea market.
