Why, oh why, oh why do I get myself into these messes? I can't believe I ever volunteered to edit/beta-read Death Comes in Packs for this poor poor person. It's huge and it's horrible and now that I read it more carefully with an eye to editing grammar... augh! It's funny, because if I'm not reading something to edit it I tend to just skim over omitted words or misspellings, because I know (or think I know) what the author meant. But if I'm editing something I pick out every misplaced comma, every little detail... and it drives. Me. Nuts!
Sigh. I shouldn't be an editor... I'd wander over and strangle the offenders.
I suppose what I'll do later today, since I have to go to lunch and then out to Oxford with my frelling manager and do that stupid FNA thing ... gyah. Hate this job so much. Can't wait to get another one. I suppose what I'll do (anyway) later today is rewrite the damn chapter myself, as an example. Here, this is what it looks like when it's done by someone who knows what they're doing. Argh! I know that's pretentious of me, but right now I don't really care. I just want to read something written by someone who knows the difference between Its and It's for a change.
At least I'm being productive today. Hopefully when I get back from this stupid training exercise I'll be more productive and actually get some writing done.
