Jun. 27th, 2019 09:50 amWell, so much for that idea. The boy had an offer to take a first shift position but decided it'd be too much to lose the shift differential in pay. And he's probably right, I wouldn't like to run too close to the line for another year or two till we get the credit cards paid down more (yay house repairs and dental work and cat fixing. Ugh.) and even the mortgage paid down more, since we're throwing extra money at that when we can, too. Ah well. In a year, because it'd be good for him to get off nights and to where he can sleep better.
I decided to abandon my initially planned novel for the July Camp Nano session and work on Black Stone Rising instead. Why? I don't know why. Maybe I'm saturated with angels. Maybe the initial outline for Mad Angel Blues was in fact as terrible as I thought it was. Who knows. But I'm still feeling rather back in the groove of being a professional writer and that means having something prepped to draft in July. Go me! And work is currently slow-ish so I'm going to use the downtime to do the stack of filing I should have done ages ago whoops, and to get a bunch of my various projects sorted. Yaaay administrivia.
For having done something terrible to my back this morning capoeira went surprisingly well. I managed to get the fairly complicated sequence done somewhat, and then did some more basic drills and then we did the easy part for me, the singing of songs. Which, look, I grew up speaking Spanish, singing a complicated song in Portuguese is not quite cake but definitely a packet of biscuits.
Guitar continues to make me happy. Which, I'm glad something does because there is so much rage to go around these days. Small but steady progress continues to be made. I'm also not pushing myself as hard as I possibly should, but right now the push is getting back into the habit of daily practice so. Maybe I am? Depending on where my focus is. But I discovered last night that Fortunate Son is playable at speed with what little I played it so far so I'm ready to get the next chunk in my fingers.
I finished the first two Incryptid books and have put that series aside for now in favor ofspending money on phone games apparently whittling down my TBR pile, so I'm reading Fire Season now. Still want to yell at the protagonist, but what else is new.
Ahem. I'm on the Harry Potter Wizards Unite game! I'm actually enjoying this more than the Pokemon, there's more to do and most importantly I can see when other people are interacting with the buildings around me. So, unlike raids in Pokemon where there's no way to tell if someone's in a raid lobby, I can see when someone else is attacking a Fortress and whether or not it's worth my while to walk out there. So that's a definite plus. Remains to be seen if I'll stick with this like I did with Pokemon (or, well, didn't, I haven't been playing nearly as much Pokemon in the last year and a half due to not having a raid team) but so far so fun. Go on. Guess what House I am.
