Jul. 25th, 2018 12:01 amOf course right after I post that (for those of you who didn't catch the addendum) and decide to seriously consider that he might have passed on Cassius turns up last night outside my door as I'm doing final lock and lights checked. I went to turn out the front light, considered going out to pet Barton one last time before bed, turned around and as I turned there was another black cat face. I went out, he screamed at me. I petted him, he had Cassius's long body, bent-tipped tail, and complete trust in my petting him. And he kept screaming for food. So I gave him food and more pets, since of the two of them he's the one who meows at least as much for attention as for food. Ridiculous creature.
I didn't see him again today for breakfast, but I know he's okay for the moment, so that's fine. I didn't see him again today for dinner either but I didn't see anyone since we had a downpour as I was coming home and they were probably under the house sulking.
I did, finally, manage to untangle the mess of Pilot of Seville and redo two thirds of it. Well, re-summarize. So that's a lot better then, even the Editrix said it looked much stronger, and now I just have to finish that. And Hell Caster. And polishing Jude. Blech. But all of that is fairly straightforward and just needs dedicated time and attention and no crises of cats or teeth or whatever the hell else is going on in my life. Replacing showerheads. (That one is fairly straightforward, it's two screws and taking apart the downstairs one, that's fine.)
I even managed to remember to pick up my prescription and get a replacement library card today. Which is impressive since I've been meaning to do both for about two weeks and haven't gotten to it yet. Next up, clearing all this writing off my desk in the last chunk of July, and then making time to read more and finishing up a whole lot of stories while I wait for people to tell me anything about my submissions. Which reminds me, I need to throttle this one market until they vomit answers. They're very very bad about sticking to deadlines and if I had anywhere else for this story to go I would yank it back, but it costs me nothing to let them sit on it a while. I'm just peeved about the lack of communication.
