I had every intention of getting a full night's sleep last night, again, so one out of three weeknights, and then at four in the morning Murdock took exception to Mikey's face so I had to lock him in a room so he wouldn't pick fights with anyone (he registered his displeasure by taking a big fat dump in the middle of the room, of course he did) and then at five thirty Mikey decided he was absolutely starving, Mommy, I'm going to diiiiie of hunger and so much for a full night's sleep. Sunday night I was worrying and anxious and convinced he was going to die under anesthesia, Monday wasn't so bad because I had the call from the surgeon that said he did great, he was going to be fine, last night... cats.

Still and nonetheless, I did make it through the day, I made it to capoeira, I did more than I had last time which is good and means I'm recovering, and I even made it to around regular bedtime without passing out. Go me.

I don't know what to say about Ursula K LeGuin that others haven't already said, and far more eloquently. I was one of those who grew up on her books; in my household reading and learning and devouring ideas was encouraged, so she was exactly my and my family's kind of fiction, I guess. Cerebral and vivid and entertaining right alongside with thought provoking. I'm envious of everyone who got to meet her, but as I first heard it put about David Bowie, how lucky I am to have lived in an era that had her in it. Think of all the centuries of people who didn't have her writings because she hadn't been born yet. How lucky I am.

I may start a reread of her books, but first I have at least two I mean to finish. I did finish all five Raksura books by Martha Wells and I still want more, and fortunately there is more although I don't know if it involves my favorite characters or not. I have to look into it.

The two books I mean to finish are one I got for Christmas by Ksenia Anke called Rosehead, a friend of mine thinks I'd like it and I trust his judgment considering he's heard me rant about shows and books and movies I like often enough, and the second one is one I picked up I think on the Kindle Deals because I liked the title and need more authors. The Bone Witch, is the title I think, by Rin Chupeco. So far so good on getting more reading in my life!

And the writing is coming along too. Although A Certain Someone ([personal profile] lireavue) introduced me to a puzzle game on the phone and I may never surface to do anything productive again.*

*admittedly this is my fault because I asked her what it was but I'm still going to tease.
