Apr. 21st, 2016 10:25 amOoh, I get to start the Heartskull hat for today's start yay! Which will probably mean just doing the ribbing and maybe the first round, but I might get to the point of the colorwork, we'll see how that goes. We'll see how my morning goes, I woke up to screaming shooting back pain where I was only slightly twingy the night before. 600 mg of ibuprofen later I might be functional, but given that I discovered this as I was showering and getting dressed and taking pictures of this month's StitchFix box that was not what I wanted out of my morning.
Gardening tonight, which means trying to get at least a chunk of everything done before I go out and assemble a bunch of raised beds and see how much of it I'm going to use and how much dirt I'm going to need. Not to mention trying to haul everything around out of the mulch pit and into the beds. Argh. So, also trying to get as much done as I can before I start hauling things around. The day after capoeira in which it was just me and the teachers again (although at least this time it was less constant drills one after the other and more games and games and games) and this actually puts eating an entire medium pizza (still wtf) into a better perspective. More so because I haven't had another fit of hi there's enough food for three people and I, a 5'1" woman, put it all in my tummy.
(Look, I've always been disinclined to have an eating disorder [not that you're ever inclined to have an eating disorder but my personality runs counter to it, might be a better way of saying], but even I get a bit startled when I eat an entire pizza and do not significantly gain weight or size. Even belly distension at the point where I should have had a bit because an entire fucking pizza. No tummy ache though. Just a slightly fuller than usual feeling.)
Oh well. A one time aberration.
Today at least so far seems to be a reasonably productive day at least in general if not necessarily at work. Getting things done slowly and bit by bit, but getting things done. Still a bit amazed at yesterday's writing success and wondering if I can duplicate it today. This might be a fat chance type thing, but I can try.
I didn't manage a Wednesday Reads post but I have been reading two very good books: One is the Eric Foner book on the Underground Railroad, full title Gateway to Freedom: The Hidden History of the Underground Railroad. It's basically a by the numbers history, but it's well written and not dry at all. The other is Skull Wars, a history of the Kennewick Man debacle and a sometimes uncomfortable look at how racial politics skews and affects anthropology and archaeology. I originally actually had it from the library and then decided it was so good I needed my own copy, so there you go. I've also been reading Swords of Sorrow and neeeeed to get back into fiction one of these years. I have a shitpile of books on my Kindle, I should really start reading. Although of course I'll start with Karen Memory and the rest of the hardcopy Iron Druid books because what am consistency. Then maybe my Kindle. I need to read a couple of books before the boy steals it anyway because he is the SLOWEST FUCKING READER EVER.
