Jun. 11th, 2015 10:37 pmThankfully, sleeping with a wrenched shoulder did not in fact result in me waking up the next day unable to really move that shoulder and my neck to that side. I suspect this has something to do with regular heating pad use and rolling/stretching shoulder and neck every fifteen minutes for several hours. (I'm not kidding, after I was able to move it I kept rolling and kept rolling and had to answer questions in the grocery store after work.) Whether it's that or whether it's just that I didn't wrench it as bad as I thought, I'm glad I'm back to mostly functional. Especially because if I hadn't come to work today, the aunts and uncles would have had to run around the store collecting about 300lb+ worth of dye and chemicals for all the camps who want their tie-dye stuff.
Especially because in the middle of the afternoon someone else who works in the building came around and reported to the Lurking Bandit (who sort of liases for the building) "Hey, I don't know if you want to do anything about this, but there's a three foot black snake..." Cue me gophering: "Black snake?" And then we went on a half hour forty-five minute chase-the-snake expedition. It never did come out where I could grab it around the neck, but I kind of wish it had. An alley is no place for a snake, and we have a nice overgrown wooded area behind my house I could have taken it to. Hee. Snek.
I did at least successfully get another chunk written in all three White Lightning stories, though not much else. I think this weekend is going to be outlining PS whether or not I have the background information locked. Or rather, outlining and formatting the notes for it so I can go in and update the notes when I already have a format set up and a place for everything. Mostly the place for everything, so I'm not scrolling through them going where the fuck did I put the faction lists or do I even have a map for this yet.
Oof. And today was also the day I started up some Hugo reading! In earnest, that is, I'm into one nominated novel and so far while I'm not engrossed and turning pages at a great rate of speed, I'm not hating it either. We'll see.
Wednesday Reads (Shut up I know it's Thursday) I did finish Artemis Fowl, I'm not sure how quickly I'll move on to the next book. But then I adored the Jasper Fforde Thursday Next first book, and I still haven't gone and gotten the rest of those, so this should not be taken as a sign of disinterest. I'm just not sure what to say beyond that was fun. And I finished something else, what was it... oh! Gail Carriger's Soulless. That, too, was fun, even if it felt fairly... more Pseudo-Victorian than Victorian.
The week's word count was 7,325, a respectable number, and superhero training continues apace, although I need to jack up the discipline on it so I get things done in a timely manner. Because right now that ain't happening. ... It's too late at night but tomorrow I should tell you all about the MRSA that probably isn't.
