kittydesade: (courtesan in training)
Well, Monday ended at least on a high note of getting all the outline entered into Scrivener, but boy was it a slog and a cascade of small things going wrong to get there. But I had a lean and healthy lunch so I got to make pasta alfredo for dinner. Tuesday, for a birthday, was very quiet and full of chocolate cake goodness and apart from also not catching up on writing or studying things (this is getting to be a trend and I do not like it) went pretty well. Plus I exercised the shit out of my body at the end of the day thanks to crappy sleep and running late Tuesday morning, and this morning, and damned if I don't feel good.

That feeling good did kind of diminish over the course of the day with me not actually getting to sit down at all except to do 30 minutes of paperwork, but that's what happens when we have an order of 350+ pieces of basket handles/hardwood hoops material to sort through, try and figure out which piece is which because of course none of them are clearly labeled, and then clearly label all of them. Which I didn't even get to because by that point I was all ugh no too fucking tired sitting here and eating my early dinner and labeling things while I sit down and wait for the Malaprop's thing to happen.

Which was great! I met Mary Robinette Kowal, I met Marie Brennan, I hope I did not make an utter fool of myself (anxiety says I did, experience says I probably was no worse or better than any other fan) and I bought a couple books thereby putting me way over not so much budget as what I wanted to be at at this point. Oh well. Fine no snacks or treats for me for the next three weeks. Stupid dentists and their stupid insistence on fixing cavities.

This week's word count total was 4,872, which is way too light post-Nano and I may need to start getting into the habit of writing 500 words in the morning and 500 at work and 500 in the evening? Or something. Just so's it gets written. But work's been unexpectedly both frustrating and busy the last ... since Monday, maybe. .... No, yeah, since Monday. Oof. And then today was an extra late night with the signing. So maybe I should give myself a break. Except I can't because endless studying and reading and shit to do argh.

Wednesday Reads
So, okay. Let's go over the books I have to read, in rough priority order because oh my god my brain.
3 books out of the library for my general background purposes and for a set of future stories/world... building? World adapting?
5 novels in the Hugo packet and whatever else is in there (I wouldn't normally make this effort but I do read pretty fast when I make time)
Kate Elliott's Lily Ransome series, at least book 1 because I need to catch up
Blackbirds
the next two Sarah Fine books, since I did churn through the first one and it turned out not completely squicky or horrible
something something. I swear I had something.

That's fourteen books right there.

Superhero Training
Fury Road has given me a furious need (this is so much better than Fast and the Furious jokes) to be a badass Imperator, so I've ended up with a morning routine of body weight/strength exercises and an evening routine if I ever manage not to be doing academics and writing till midnight, of stretches. So far the morning routine is going good! For my own note-keeping, port-de-bras with weights 4 8's left right left right, 10 punches left and then right, 10 palm strikes left and then right, and those weird wonder woman exercises 10 left and then right, repeat twice. Push-ups x6 for at least the next week, side kicks x10 left and right, push-ups x6, run in place for 60 seconds, repeat twice. Punching crunches or whatever those are called for 10, half bridge for 60 seconds, those windshield wiper leg things for 10, repeat twice. And believe it or not this is 30 minutes worth of exercise and enough to get me sweaty, but hopefully also enough to put some muscle where there is currently blobby fat. Not filling out the whole space, just... replacing with equal to lesser poundage. I'll work out my stretching routine when I finally manage to work one in at all for a week.
