Sep. 14th, 2014 10:21 pmOkay, this isn't so much an instructional post as a I got through all my chores and decided I would have painting time as a reward, so here are the things I learned tonight:
Headlamps Oh my god I love my headlamp for working. I love it. I love it good. I think I actually love it better than having a desk lamp on my desk or clamped to something or whatever. I love it so hard. I cannot recommend this enough if you can stand having things on your head (some people can't). If you want a magnifying glass, as I said in the supplies post, they have those too with lights on.
Feathering So, I finally started trying to do feathering on account of I did some layering on that chick's dress (pictures to come later if I can stop being ashamed of it) and yeah, once I shone some stronger light on it that didn't work too well. I may strip her or I may just throw on a wash to soften the transitions, but I started trying to do feathering on this other guy's coat and I can only conclude that while drybrushing layering is for fur and things like that, feathering is for clothes. Unfortunately feathering is going to be fucking hard for me to master. Argh. Oh well.
Micron Pens are still the shiznit for getting eyes done. Seriously, have you ever tried to do a mini's eyes? It's a pain in the ass unless they have giant bulging googly eyes and even then, the pupils. Argh. I just colored in the ghouls' eyes with red and called it a day. It felt good.
Sealer is still the stinkiest shit known to man. This is because the ghouls are done! Done done done! On to the next set of minis! I need more pill cases so I can do more shit in progress.
And on a final, entirely unrelated note, today's word count: is 616 (White Lightning). The past two days were zilch due to feeling like crap on Friday and then blogging all day Saturday and recovering from feeling like crap otherwise. (I should have gotten some writing done in the evening but, no. I was feeling incredibly lazy.)
