We're on day... four? Three. Day three of my hand having been bitten by one of the ferals outside. The two very tiny punctures show no signs of infection and one is all but healed. The redness and swelling have faded. I have minimal swelling and lingering but minimal pain, and mostly it feels like an impact injury. About the only danger at this point would be rabies, which as I understand it feral cats don't commonly have. Also apparently if you observe the animal over ten days and it doesn't have rabies, you don't need the injections, so either a) the rabies vaccine works even one to two weeks later and b) we've observed them for, what, two to three weeks right now? It didn't bite me until I was a dumbass and cornered it to try to pick it up. I'm pretty sure it doesn't have rabies.
(The actual rationale behind trying to pick up a feral is we have to catch all of them at one point or another and haul them off to the Humane Alliance for snipping so we don't end up with MORE ferals. I swear I don't go around trying to pick up strange half-wild cats.)
The boy is still insisting I go to the doctor. I have no idea why. It'd be more irritating if it wasn't time for my annual physical anyway, so I might as well make that appointment.
Inserting snaps did not go quite as well as expected or hoped. Not quite as badly either, but still not quite as well as hoped. This might be due to the snaps being bigger than they should be for the thickness of the leather, which, I'll get smaller snaps and try those on scrap leather. And failing all else, there's always buckles and possibly sewing in zippers into the big pouches. Still, it's disappointing/annoying. We'll see what happens when I get my snaps over the next few days, I guess. And in the meantime maybe I can close the littler pouches, the rune/dice pouches with buttons or something. I'm sure I have pretty buttons somewhere in my button jar.
Back to work today, anyway. Whee. Back to normal and trying to remember a little more assiduously to do my Russian and German reading for the next few weeks because I got gift certificates to Amazon for Christmas, and as a result I'm getting the Wheelock's Latin. So this ought to be fun. Let's see how many languages I can cram into my head at the same time! Wheeee!
