The use of the conditional:
An dtiocfá liom? Would you come with me?
Ní dhéanfainn é sin. I wouldn't do that.
Ní cheannóinn an teach sin. I wouldn't buy that house.
Mholfainn duit glacadh leis. I would advise you to accept it.
Dhéanfadh sé maitheas duit. It would do you good.
Nach smaoineofá air? Wouldn't you think about it?
An ólfá cupán tae? Would you drink a cup of tea?
The conditional of féadann is 'is able to, can'
When combined with verbal nouns this gives the equivalent of I could do/go:
D'fheadfainn dul ann. I could go there.
D'fhéadfainn é sin a dhéanamh. I could do that.
D'fhéadfadh sé bheith fuar anocht. It could be cold tonight.
The conditional of tarlaíonn (happens) can have this sense of could, also.
Tharlódh go mbeadh sé fuar. It could happen to be cold.
Questions about purely hypothetical things are both asked and replied to using the conditional:
An bhféadfá é sin a dhéanamh? could you do that?
D'fhéadfainn. I could.
Ní fhéadfainn. I couldn't.
An ólfá deoch/cúpan tae? Would you like a drink/cup of tea?
Ólfaidh.
Ní ólfaidh.
An ndéanfá gar dom? Would you do me a favor?
Déanfaidh.
An dtabharfá iasacht deich bpunt dom? Would you lend me 10 pound?
Tabharfaidh.
An gcabhrófá liom? Would you help me?
Cabhróidh.
Is/ní féidir (can/can't) are often used to reply to an an bhféadfá (could you) instead of féadfaidh (will be able to).
An bhféadfainn labhairt le Máire? Could I speak to Máire?
Is féidir, cinnte. Yes, certainly.
Okay, I'm not sure if I'm stick, comma, still, or sick, comma, again. What I really want to do is just curl up and watch Warm Bodies because oh my god this is the funniest fucking movie ever. Instead I went to work, and now I'm zombieing around with my body too cold, my nose too runny, my head too spaced, and definitely feeling sick.
Spent last night sneezing and sort of doing edits on Gods and Monsters, which thankfully did get finished today. If I'm very lucky I'll be able to finish a lot of writing tasks today, and on time to do the sewing ones this evening. Thus, this list is for my own edification and because I have a brain that is covered in ick right now.

Yeah, I wish I had more things interesting for you, but I'm just too sick to process thoughts right now. Warm Bodies was hilarious. Go see it.
