Oof ow. Ran the stairs today, since that has a handrail, although not the benches because of rain and slippery. The last thing I need when I'm already at least a month behind on parkour practice is to twist an ankle the first time I try to run over all the things. Still ow. And oof.
Saw Lockout over the weekend. Which was a thoroughly enjoyable if not quite up to his usual standards Luc Besson movie. The beginning pacing was awkward and then once it got going it was the usual well-choreographed well-dialogued action punch-up. Mostly it was an hour and a half or so of watching Guy Pearce get the shit knocked out of him, snark, and then team up with this other chick to snark and crawl through a space station and shoot people and snark some more. The plot on which they hung the action could have been a little more streamlined and less meaty; these movies are rarely about the plot, and there's not really anything wrong with that. But, eh. I paid a dollar to see it. It was well worth it.
Next up at the dollar theatre, Safe House and then maybe John Carter. We missed it in the big theatres but Sundays at this place are a dollar, and that wouldn't be a bad weekend thing for me and the boy to do. And that way if it's as sucky as the utter box office failure would indicate, I'm not out much money, and if it's as awesome as my friends indicate, I'll have seen it in theatres! Win-win.
Here's a random thought for you, I've been continuing to dabble in Caprica and the knives the Taurons have, Toe-moss and Sam, I know Tauron culture is based on Greek but they really remind me of skean dubh.
And then there's Grimm. There are previews for the finale up on Hulu and Spoiler TV disguised as thanks from the actors, two of which in particular had my head exploding. Poor Renard. This is not going to be pretty and I just hope that Nick's flailing over the last couple of episodes doesn't spill into this one, because it is going to take a lot of cunning and a lot of cleverness and thinking on his feet to juggle all of this. Then again, Renard. I wouldn't want to be a certain person when Renard catches up with him. That's going to be messy.
Right. No incoming today, but probably a pile of outgoing, and I have writing I need to do around that. BigBang Mixups to finish edits on now that I've been thoroughly smacked and reminded that that's why I have an editor, so I don't have to go through and do two people's jobs when I have a perfectly competent person willing and able to do her job. Seriously, self, is this a control freak thing or just you've been working on your own so long you've gotten into idiotic habits? Anyway, so now it's just running through and implementing edits where she's left me notes and made my writing bleed green, like a good author. Alternating between that and goofy Caprica fanfic.
