Tom Hiddleston is officially a dork. A completely lovable dork, but a dork nonetheless.

RIGHT. Spent the weekend hiding from the internets, mostly, and getting caught up/arranged on writing. Now I have to get caught up on tags (oh dear lord my inbox) and corrections on my languages. Which won't be as hard/as bad. I think. I hope. Depending on what the day at work is like. I do, at least, feel somewhat better? Mmm, it doesn't look like there's much incoming, and I feel somewhat less exhausted so hopefully there won't be as much falling asleep at my desk. That was... irritating. And I have stuff to do, no doubt, with the usual weekend backlog.

Summer is definitely here. I would go so far as to say summer is sitting on this town like a great fat bastard chewing on our tolerance and dripping sweat and humidity. On the plus side, it actually hasn't gotten any hotter than it already is, which is around the mid 80s. I could live with it not getting any hotter than this. We've had a decent amount of rainfall so we're not worrying so much about drought conditions. We are really very lucky where we live, that we don't have the massive climate catastrophes that other places have been having. It could be a hell of a lot worse.

Things and stuff. Things to do. My brain is churning overtime on the writing, which is kind of nice. I got out the mini-painting stuff yesterday and started, and got about halfway done, some sort of golem type thingie in such a way that I am actually rather pleased with it! I might have to do that, work on simple stuff right now, to begin with, and save the more complicated figures with lots of clothes and fiddly bits for the weekend when I can sit down and paint for a frillion hours at a time. I'm also starting to realize how much time having my Dragon*Con costumes all ready frees me up with. I do like that. No need to worry, just. I need to get some parts for Faye, which I'll probably do around the end of July, and then dye them. And then I need to get my unitard for Tron costume which, again, maybe end of July, and then do that construction in August. Because it's either cutting out holes and reinforcing edges, and then wrapping myself in lightwire, or sticking fabric in a pot to dye and boil and setting it and so on. Easy-peasy.

The hard part will be finishing my Russian book so I can babble at Misha some more and completely confuse him. Ahem. (No, I won't. That would be mean. But if I can finish the entire Russian text by D*C, HOLY SHIT TWO FULL TEXTBOOKS IN ALMOST THREE YEARS OMG LEARNING RUSSIAN ALMOST BY MYSELF. AUGH.)

Well that turned out to be more of a verb review than a new grammar point, but hey.

I keep being bemused that Shannon Butcher is following me on Twitter. Wha? Bestselling authors don't follow me on Twitter, I follow them. But apparently I'm interesting in some sort of obscure way. Who knew. Did have a fun conversation today. I think I made her brain hurt. That's always fun.

Oof. No, I was wrong, or maybe I wasn't. Work is busyish today, for a given value of busyish, which means it's not more than I can handle but it definitely won't leave me much time for writing at work today. There's a fair bit of outgoing and it's camp season again, which means half of it's dye. Yay. And other things. Things and stuff. I'm not half as energetic as I was this morning, which is kind of annoying. I could use a few surges of energy right about now. And before anyone says anything about coffee, no, I don't drink it. Never got into the habit.

I'm pretty sure there was something else I meant to say or do or talk about or link to, but all I can think of is oh yeah, I wrote tentacle porn the other day. Which sort of says something in and of itself, doesn't it.

So it goes.

I have nothing interesting for you. No, seriously. I am uninteresting. In lieu of anything that might interest anyone I have a brainspew on my various projects, which pretty much comes out as I think of it.

First of all, I really need to finish the first draft of the Underground and possibly without any sciency scenes until I figure out what's going on with that. Then, maybe this weekend, I need to finish reading my cell/molecular biology and biometrics books, take copious notes, and then figure out what the hell is going on with the sciency stuff. Then I can go back and integrate it. Then I can give it a once-over for copy-editing, phrasing that really just doesn't work, and so on. And probably by then it will be time to post it for SciFi big bang. That... actually startlingly resembles a plan. And, really, most of it involves just getting off my ass and doing the thing where I take notes on things that I barely passed in school the first time. Heh.

Triumvirate is the thing I will need to make sure I do not distract myself from Underground with. And both of them need titles, but Triumvirate at least has more vivid characters I enjoy writing and less open/blatant description of technology I can barely keep inside my head. That one I just need to sit down and drag the words out of me, and I have the sneaking suspicion that my backbrain is working on it when my forebrain isn't. Hence, not letting it run away with itself and take me with it.

I still need titles. Underground is a science fiction ish story, a little science fiction, a little noir, involving a woman who gets in over her head inadvertently with her contracted employers who are making super soldiers. It seriously, deeply needs an overhaul on where the focus is and about the super soldiers, and probably ten times more science because I got distracted on the protagonist who then turned out to be bland and boring, at least to me. BUT. The concepts in this book: street couriers on rollerblades, biotechnology, grown/in-utero-genetically-altered domesticated humans (yes, I said domesticated humans) with chameleon skin who live in the sewers and...

... and I just realized. Shit. I wonder if I have time to do that. But I just realized. This should probably have more of their point of view, too. Fuck. I hate it when I realize that halfway into a Big Bang. I guess I can just write scenes, chop scenes, and then hope it all comes out with the minimum word count.

Anyway. So there's that. What should its title be?

Triumvirate is a story of two men and one women from disparate backgrounds who marry as representatives of their people to stop a war that's been going on for a few generations. They make it work, discover they really can at least be friends and care for each other, and foil not one but two plots to destroy the peace and restart the war. Title that! ... actually, that's not a bad summary right there.

And now I have to go fix my fucking SciFi Big Bang. ARGH.
