101 things I could be writing fiction about that are not the romantic and sexual (possibly mostly sexual) lives of gay men.
1. School bullies.
2. Insecurity and self-aggrandizing humor.
3. Freedom riots.
4. Computer malfunctions.
5. Being sick with a common, merely annoying illness.
6. Having a job that grinds you down.
7. The comforts of family, biological or otherwise.
8. War
9. Terminal illness
10. Inventing something groundbreaking.

Just off the top of my head. Now, all of these can be done by people of any sexuality and any relationship status, and most of them can be done by any number of people who are of any sexuality and any relationship status. I think some of them might be solitary things, depends on your interpretation, I suppose.
The point being, fandom's obsession with slashfic is making me crabby. Also, relatedly, this is why I don't read romance novels.
