Okay, no, I'm not going to get that last dialogue translated in time. Oh well. Three dialogues done, and questions answered tomorrow.

Folkmoot was pretty awesome, but, seriously, they should not have led with the Russian troupe. High energy, high flash, leaving the next three acts to try and follow that. Which they couldn't. Not on your traditional sedate and decidedly neither high energy nor high flash performances. Especially not since these were probably amateur, two or three hours a week groups. And... I have no idea on the Russians but I'm fairly sure you don't do handsprings like that on two or three hours a week, unless you're doing something else outside of that. Though the last two, the Irish troupe was skilled and well choreographed, that was a good follow up, and the Jordanian group wasn't very technically difficult but damn they had some very good energy and an awesome singer.

Oof. Two days of work, then an hour or so of excruciating discomfort and coming home to fall over. Then two more days of work. I don't even know what I'm going to do with this week.

I did manage to get in a shitton of walking this morning, despite it being ridiculously humid. And then my situps and pushups, and so on. I'm not sure what to do about my own body image, but probably being a little more rigorous about my diet (not, specific diet, for the newcomers, just watching what I eat and not being so indulgent in general) and such will help. Also, more yoga/dance for tone. And more meditation for confidence, because, seriously. A lot of it is confidence. And right now that's not too good. But, goddammit. I am Silk Spectre. Or I will be as soon as I put on the damn costume. This is non-negotiable.

I'm also kind of tempted to practice a drop spindle, take a drop spindle to Dragon Con and just randomly make yarn. Steampunk and handcrafts. Maybe I can make a drop spindle out of something metal, that would be awesome. Okay, now I need some kind of a wheel. Steampunk drop spindle! Ahem. I didn't manage to get the skirt cut out last weekend on account of AUGH BUSY, but this coming weekend I will. And then figure out the rest of it. Cheetarah, I need to get the leotard and unitard for. Or maybe just a leotard and tights. Thoughts, anyone?

So, for today's crack, I give you: Jeffrey Dean Morgan at a spinning wheel. Spinning. Enjoy.

I spun almost another full bobbin of yarn today. I have the sneaking suspicion I'm over-twisting a little, but on the other hand, it's mostly coming out mostly an even thickness and without slubby bits. Which is damn impressive when you look at the yarn I spun the other day, which is full of slubby bits and not really even at all. I may actually take both ... well, now all three skeins home and wash them and hang them to set the twist. No matter how crappy they are. And then dye them and do something random with them, or foist them off on people.

I have a dilemma, or maybe it's the same dilemma I had earlier. Steampunk or pirate? So far my Dragon*Con off-day costume (i.e. the days I'm not dressing up in spandex) is a blouse or pirate shirt, of undyed muslin, a black cinch or corset, and a skirt. And black boots. At some point there will be hunting down thrift store belts to wrap two of around my waist and maybe a couple more around my boots, but that's the gist of my costume, plus tricorne, drop spindle, and pouches should I so choose. My dilemma is thus: do I steampunk it up and if so, how? Or do I just let that be my quirky self, which is vaguely more piratical. Although come to think of it the only thing that makes it piratical is the tricorne. Dilemma, you see! I do, by the way, have access to and intend on getting a drop spindle that actually looks really steampunky. It exists in red and gold/yellow or blue and silver, and probably it could be painted and sealed if I really wanted to. Thoughts, anyone? Still need to decide on my Cheetarah costume, too.

I'm really getting way too excited about this whole event. And yet, dude. Dragon Con. It really will be awesome. There will be panels and other people in costumes and stars to meet and greet and friends to see and meet and, yeah. Just generally awesome. Even more so if people can remember to keep their cell phones with them, ahem ahem.

Ugh. Tuesday tomorrow. Which means the day after is Wednesday, which is when I get my teeth yanked. Really, really not looking forward to this. I keep trying to remind myself that after probably an hour or so it'll all be over, all of it, up to and including the shots, the yanking, and I don't have any pain afterwards usually, just wonkiness. It's not working very well. I have to be injected on the roof of my mouth. Do you know how much it hurts to be injected in the roof of your mouth?

On the plus side, or maybe just the other side, I ran out of drum carder demo wool to spin. I apparently blazed through that in a few hours. And now, I have to actually card some stuff before I can spin it. Which means either no more running commentary from the Nameless bastard, or twice as much. Hmm.

Still debating the whole steampunk vs pirate thing, but didn't get around to taking pictures tonight. Maybe pictures tomorrow, or the evening after. At some point when I can get my corset or cinch on. The hilarious thing is, I told a couple people at the store what I had planned and they were all "ooh, you might want to do this, and that's cool, and now we're going to run you through dyeing your yarn!" I seriously think at least Beej is sort of tickled pink that I'm leaping on this.

Writing somehow managed to leap back on me. I'm not entirely sure how, but I'll take it. Deadlines are still encroaching and I still need to do some fast writing. Plus, um. Something. Wow, my brain just failed. But, plus one more major thing to completely throw my schedule out of whack, and then it's back to normal at least until Dragon Con. I think. Barring any other crazy shit that decides to happen. Which is entirely possible.

I'm sure there was something else important here that I forgot to type up, but damned if I can remember what it was. Ah well.
