kittydesade: (don't panic)
Russian )

There are very few everyday feelings more disgusting than feeling your sweat dry while you're generating more. Ew. Gross. Before anyone asks, though, yes, I'm drinking a lot of water. Gotta replenish those fluids somehow.

... My god, Die Eier Von Satan really does kind of sound evil. If you don't know German and you're not listening to the lyrics. "And no eggs" doesn't really sound Satanic. Especially when you're talking about baking. (And iTunes follows it up with The Death and Resurrection Show. I love you, iTunes.)

And then maintenance scared the shit out of me. Oi.

Right. Today's writing stuff looks pretty do-able, especially if it stays as quiet as it has been at work. Not entirely sure what I'll do for Kink Bingo, but I'll think of something. Also need to go to the post office, that'll be good exercise. Other than that... trying to think, we don't have any of the quarter ton shipments of yarn coming in. I don't think we have any major dye shipments or reed shipments that are actually due anytime soon. Or, rather, we do, but they're not likely to actually show up. Maybe if I can get a good whack of writing whacked out early the last hour can be spent on the spinning wheels. Or just, dicking around in front. That'd be fun. Oh god, I'm going to end up being a tourist attraction.

Well, here's hoping I got the Russian right at least. I can't tell if it was too easy, just easy enough, or what. And the word order still puzzles me sometimes.

Oogh. I'll translate that for the curious when I get home.

Oh government, why are you so full of fuckmuppetry. Between one friend of a friend's health issues and another friend's food issues, the government is having a serious week to month of fail. The health care reform isn't coming soon enough. The government is seriously falling down on its alleged responsibility to help people. Seriously, either stop pretending to assume the responsibility or start actually assuming the responsibility. Oi.

On the plus side, or I guess it's a plus side, getting massive amounts of crap done at work today? Writing crap, that is, not actual work crap. Scenes, wicks, kink bingo. Today and yesterday, dear god, the amount of crap I got done yesterday. I should actually have caught up on my whole word count deficit from May with very little effort. And I should actually be in a position to not drive myself nuts this weekend and still finish everything on time. This makes me happy. Cleaning the apartment shouldn't take too long tonight with the boy helping. It'll be a challenge to get all that done and whatever writing is leftover, but I think I'm up to it

On the minus side, I really could have done without maintenance scaring the shit out of me this morning. They came in to stare at our ceiling and talk about installing the fan that apparently was supposed to be done in February. I'm kind of glad they didn't tell us it was supposed to have been done in February, because serious shit would have hit said fan, and then they would have had to reinstall. As it is, I wish they'd given us some damn notice. The apartment is a mess again and I have shame like a cat that shamefacedly scuffles litter over its poo.

Oh well. If we're very lucky or they're very good, we'll have a fan by Friday evening, just in time for game. Mmm ceiling fan. Tastes of air circulation and possibly lower electric bills.

Oh my god this grilled lime curry rubbed steak with melon chutney is delicious and you must have some RIGHT NOW.

For Chutney:

2 cups chopped ripe honeydew melon
1/3 seedless cucumber, peeled and chopped
1/2 cup chopped red onion
3 tablespoons fresh lime juice
1/4 cup chopped cilantro
1 to 2 teaspoons minced jalapeño, including seeds
1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
1/4 teaspoon ground cumin

Stir. Blend. Let sit. Also makes a tasty salad. The kind of salad that would make Samuel L Jackson say "Mmm! This is a tasty salad!"

For Steak:
2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 tablespoon curry powder
meat
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper

Grill steak with rub. Make a 'sandwich' with jasmine or basmati rice, steak, and chutney. FEAST.

Vegetarians can also use the chutney recipe as a salad because it is tasty good oh my god I cannot begin to describe how happy my mouth is right now. I don't even want my Super Chocolate Fudge Brownie Ben and Jerry's because my mouth is so happy. That's how good this food is.

Okay, that was a very, very tasty dinner experiment. Double points for it being the first try on that recipe. Oh my dear sweet lord it was tasty. More must be made. Actually, while there isn't any beef left, there is some chutney left, and this may have to happen for lunch or second breakfast tomorrow. I have a plethora of healthy snacks leftover, actually. Cucumber, melon, chutney. There's only one small bit of steak left anyway. The boy can have that.

Oogh. Must remember to do CS post tomorrow. It actually kind of strikes me as funny, Inara's going to be at Dragon Con this year. Morena Baccarin. Who sort of played one of the inspirations for CS, or at least, one of my inspirations. I wonder what she's actually like, the actress.

Legs are starting to ache less, which sort of feels like I should be doing more and sort of feels better just in general. Like I'm getting stronger. Not sure where the balance is between the two states, but I figure that as long as I can slowly and slightly increase my load, pace, distance, what have you, and if I don't incur any more big aches and pains, I'll be doing good. And I'm doing that thing where I alternate the more intensive runs with less intensive walks and yoga, so that at least should help me not pull anything or destroy my body while I'm trying to build it up. And! And paying attention to what I eat. And other stuff in general. Getting back on track in a way I haven't been for at least a month, diet wise, and longer than that almost, exercise wise. Feels good.

I think my greatest achievement, though, is getting to bed on time. Three nights in a row, or I'm working on making it be three nights in a row. Go me!
