… I have surprisingly little writing stuff to do today. That's kind of nice and refreshing. Also I went to bed hella early last night, again, which hopefully will contribute to the feeling better.

Grandpa had his procedure yesterday, and he feels better and is doing very well according to the doctors. He's going home today, where home means home with aunt B. He'll stay there for a few days, I imagine, just to make sure nothing else happens. But that is more than a bit of a relief right there. Thank you, everyone, for all your hugs and good wishes. Hopefully this will get him about as much better as a man of his age can be. Great-grandma, his mother, lived to be in her early 90s and was still driving and doing organizational charity work and things right up until the day she passed, so hopefully it runs in the family.

And now, Russian!

Genitive case of nouns. … We get nouns and adjectives in one big dollop? Ow, book. Ow.

Put the following words and phrases into the genitive case:
1. студент – студента
2. дом – дома
3. словарь – словаря
4. окно – окна
5. платье – платья
6. газета – газеты
7. квартира – квартиры
8. американка – американкы
9. кухня – кухни
10. Россия – России

And now I know. And at least, at the very least, Monday will involve more practice.

To do today:

1. TM Prompts #304
2. Essay: Derailed…
3. Go through Corsair outline, note things for research
4. Last night's German
5. Crash (needs new title)

Summary: The grieving process is easier with someone to take care of you through it.
A/N: Happy? birthday, [livejournal.com profile] adsartha

Paul wasn't doing so good.

He held it together until the funeral. Futile rituals of the living meant to comfort and explain away what was going on, not that it mattered. Not that death cared. For the first time in a long time he was at war with himself, the part of himself that was Paul rejecting the wisdom and distant sympathy of the part of himself that was Anubis. Awareness of the soul's passage into peace was little comfort to a man who had lost a former lover and good friend.

They'd somehow managed not to kill each other over reconnecting over Tucker. Paul had meant to talk to him, give him advice on how to approach the kid with, well. Everything. Tuck and Jack had never communicated well. He'd meant to call. All these things he meant to do, piling up in his head. He'd even gone so far as to pick up the phone once or twice before he realized that there would be no one on the other end of the line.

It hurt. It hurt a lot. )

Title: We Don't Need No Education (Part 1 of 7)
Fandom: The Dresden Files
Characters: Donald Morgan, Anastasia Luccio, Rashid, Claire Bernier (OC), Svetlana Ivanova (OC), others
Word Count: 3,314/~24,000
Rating: PG-13
Summary: A week with the Warden trainees, medical seminar.
A/N: When I was reading Turn Coat, I spent half the book whimpering and cringing and hoping Butcher would pull [spoiler redacted] out of it. Alas, no. That bastard Butcher broke my heart, so I resolved to fix it the way every good fangirl does: with fanfic! This is part 1 of several, which is in and of itself only the opening to the actual fix. The groundwork, as it were. Many, many thanks to my lovely betas, [livejournal.com profile] adsartha and [livejournal.com profile] kikibug13, first of all, for putting up with me while I was working on this behemoth.

"Sit down."

Wardens. Honestly. Though from the look Morgan was giving her he thought the same thing about uppity young healers. She knew better. She was neither uppity nor as young as he likely believed her to be, and he was still injured. And had been lifting a heavy sword with at least a sprained wrist.

"Well, it doesn't look like you've aggravated your injuries," Claire sighed, tossing the bandage into a pile of dirty cloth and pulling a clean one and a splint from her bag. "You can thank whatever deity you pray to for that one."
