Aug. 9th, 2009 10:56 pmSo, meet the newest member of the Kitty family!
( DEATH BY CUTE )
She still needs a name, and right now the top runners are Madeline or Mara. I have no idea why the M tangent. She's probably a she, by the brief invasion of her privacy we did and the lack of cojones. She's also very fuzzy, which means I have cat hair and dander up my nose and I'm sneezing far more than usual. Which means I spent most of today either moving furniture around in the spare room to prep for the kitty or sneezing and curling up with the sinus headache of doom. That said? I love this kitten.
So far Mikey and Michelle aren't taking it too badly. There's startled hissing and glaring and squirming and clawing whenever we take them around to see the poor girl, but other than that they're wandering around the apartment same as always. We are taking care to give them extra special cuddles to remind them that we still want them around. Eventually when we know the status of what exactly is living on and in the new resident we'll probably introduce them and slather her in butter to incite licking. Or possibly turkey rub. Little Girl Michelle likes turkey.
She's adorable. And loud. She meows loud and purrs loud, and she's very very friendly. As in she'll come out, lean up against me, and lay down with her head on my arm and purr to be petted. I put my hand out and she bumps her head against it. She's taking food and water (I think, I haven't seen her drink) and she's eliminating properly, and while the boy cleaned it out I didn't see anything squirming in it, so that's good. We'll take a stool sample to the vet tomorrow and hopefully can get in first thing in the morning.
This is... going to be slightly pricey? But so worth it. And hopefully not that pricey, hopefully she doesn't have much in the way of health issues. She seems healthy, anyway. No more worms or mites or little squirmy things than one would expect from a kitten living outdoors. She's about six weeks old.
