Saw Shadow again today. Shadow's name has been reinstated from Dumbshit because he did not, in fact, follow me into the street. He stayed on his porch like a good cat. Not sure what that means from the woman, but I did hear back from the pet adoption agency and tehy're going to look into their records, and I need to try and find the chip number.

Russian, in the meantime. Questions answered from here, which I've been transcribing for the last couple of days. If you've wondered why you haven't been seeing as much Cyrillic in my entries, that's why.

1. What is the purpose of the list in the top half of the page? A list of departments, it looks like, in which a person may study. Might be comprehensive, might be just the ones they want to showcase? That seems like it would be a more cultural thing.

2. What is the topic of the paragraph with the numbers 26000, 279, and 784?
Students, faculty, and staff? Is my guess. 279 refers to some sort of doctors and professors, I'd have to look up the rest of the vocabulary to understand. 784 refers to candidates of something or another.

3. What is the topic of the penultimate paragraph, and what key word gives you a hint? This seems like a question with a very variable answer. It seems to highlight other facilities that the university offers, but I have no idea what key word would give me that hint; the list of words like "музеев" and "студенческих общежитий" I recognize as being facilities that aren't, strictly speaking, departments, but other things a college or university might have. So... yeah?

4. What is the purpose of the list in the last paragraph? It looks like a list of types of degrees that the university offers. Assuming that's the last paragraph?

5. Judging from the list of departments, what are this school's strengths? Sciences, it looks like. Hard science and economic science, and some "soft" science as well. I know I saw archaeology mentioned in there. :D

6. Are there any departments not listed that you might expect at a major university? I never actually went to a major university, so I don't know. It seems to have everything. There's more of an emphasis on the hard sciences than the soft and the arts than there was in my school, but I know that's to be expected from a liberal arts school versus an actual university. What equivalents might large American universities have to some of the departments listed here. Again, assuming I would know what large American universities would have. I went to a small liberal arts school, I have no idea. Most of our departments were titled similarly.

7. What can you say about the library facilities? They're extensive? They list a number of what looks like books and supplemental materials, if I've extrapolated (rather than translated) that correctly.

8. What kinds of museums are there? Zoological, archaeological, ethnographic, historical of... something. Radio-something. What other facilities does the university have? Name three. Student housing in 6 units (dorms?), sports facilities in 6 units, computer center (I can't tell if that means a building with computers for student use or a lab for the study of computer science), journalism lab... tele-journalism? A... oh christ, I forgot the word. Student broadcasting station? That's more than three.

9. What did you learn about the qualifications of the faculty? Um.... This is probably when I should stop because my brain is failing... no, between the cultural translation and the linguistic translation I'm not sure.

10. What did you find out about the university's national and international rating? This too, after I do a more line by line translation.

11. What degrees are offered, and how many years of study does it take to get each? Bachelor's equivalent, 4 years; Master's equivalent, 6 years; Specialist certification, 5 years.

Help me, o my F-list! I need salad ideas for salads wot I can make for lunch. Preferably involving ranch dressing since I have a bottle of it for some inexplicable reason.

Also, just because it is apparently Tony Bourdain's birthday does not mean I am writing birthday smut. You know how I feel about naked Anthony Bourdain. And that it involves running very fast in the other direction while screaming "The goggles! They do nothing!"
