You know, it's really hard to study Russian when the cat is lying on your book. Not just on your book, on the page you're trying to read. I don't think "Verbs with [CATPAW] conjugations: -ю, -ишь [CATPAW] -ят" is going to help me much. I'm pretty sure [CATPAW] isn't a suffix.

There.

German! So that Astrid can laugh at me.

It's funny. There are days when I think, oh god. Five, six languages? And a seventh that you want to learn? How the hell are you going to be able to remember all that? And then there are times when I think, it's not that hard. It's just patterns. Plug and play. You do it often enough, you memorize it. You learn it. It becomes reflex. It's easy to learn these new languages.

Today is one of the latter days. I like that.

Erzählen wir (Let's talk about it)
Before you can talk about a topic you need to have the appropriate vocabulary. Go back to the text and write down several words in addition to the one provided that you can use when you talk about Germany.

Klima: (Sommer), Winter, Regen, Schnee, Temperaturen, Ozean, kühl, heiß
Größe: (Kilometer), Tagesreise, weit, auseinander, liegen, Norden, Süden, Osten, Westen

Talk briefly about one of two of the following topics: Das Wetter in Deutschland, Deutschland ist klein, Das Wetter in meiner Stadt.

Das Wetter in meiner Stadt.
Es ist kühl und es regnet heute. Es regnet oft hier im Frühling. Es ist nicht zu kalt, aber der Regen ist unsympathisch. (I have the sneaking suspicion that's not the right 'unpleasant' I want to use, but. Moo. The dictionary's in the other room.) Am Wochenende ich glaube es ist schön.

Deutschland ist klein.
Ich glaube, Deutschland ist etwa so groß wie Ohio. Klein Städte liegen oft nicht weit auseinander. Ich glaube, es ist ein Sitz amerikanisch in Stuttgart. (Okay, I got out the dictionary anyway.)
