kittydesade: (not all of wisdom brings joy)
Tired kitty is tired.

Well, though productive, today was hectic and full of annoying. For instance the order that ... on second thought, no, I take it back, I was probably the only one with enough lack of things to do to check it in. So, never mind that rant, but I still wound up spending all day checking in an order and didn't get the massive order for one of our wholesale clients out today. Well, and it only came in yesterday. So it can go out tomorrow.

And this is where I eye the phone. No one's home! Go away. Great bouncing yarblockos to you, o person who calls after store hours.

It was nice out. Warmer than yesterday, actually warmer than the past couple of days have been, but about the right temperature for Asheville in the summer. I went for a walk after I got the shipping done and put away most of the yarn and holy fuckbeans that was a massive hit of deja vu. Um. Yes. Anyway, it was nice out, went for a walk, landed in this lovely little bit of pagan randomness shop (you know the kind, with wind chimes and incense burners and tarot decks) where, as the proprietor put it, there were more fairies than San Francisco. Yes, I laughed. I wound up picking up yet another Tarot deck I don't need but dammit, it was pretty, and everyone's played with my other decks. I can't seem to get it through the boy's head that the deck you work with DOES NOT GET PLAYED WITH. Oi. And a pretty wooden box to put it in. Yes, I am shameless. And my mother sent me back with money, as she tends to do. My family flings money and gifts at people at random intervals. So for all those of you who have been randomly treated, I do come by it honestly.

I actually haven't done my Tarot in a long time, and in Asheville you stand more of a chance of running into someone who knows what the hell they're talking about, so I think I'm going to do a tarot diary to brush up on it again. Study a card or two once a day. If people are interested I can post my thoughts here, or I can just write them down in a private journal. And then I'll practice my spreads.

I know I say this a lot, or I did when I posted more often, but I'm really glad I moved down here. In Cincinnati the kinds of places where ... well, I couldn't just walk around downtown and buy a tarot deck. Certainly not from any of half a dozen stores. The kinds of places that had tarot decks usually either also had unfriendlies or the tarot decks were next to the Decks of Many Things, the White Wolf Tarot, and the games of Lunch Money and Beer Money. Not that there's anything wrong with those, but it was oddly nice to walk in and see a bunch of Llewellyn mostly-crap and a few good books.

It's nice to walk down the street and hear musicians, or a drum circle, or people laughing and talking and philosophizing. It's nice to be in a town where weird is practical, and practical doesn't have to be dull and stodgy. It's nice to be able to feel like I can really stretch instead of jeans and t-shirt, push the strange down, don't say anything too out there, or say the out there things and get looked at funny. Here's a way to sum itup. It's nice to be in a place where Mundania doesn't really exist. There's just different sets of clothes.

Also it's kind of fun to work in a place where all but two employees have known you since you were four years old. Maybe it wouldn't always be, but in this case it is. :)
