[asheville] HERE. HAH.
Jan. 11th, 2008 08:40 pmASHEVILLE.
I am in ASHEVILLE. HAH. Victory is mine.
Today has been a bit of a lazy day on account of the boy being here, us needing to unload the truck, and various other circumstances. We did go up to the most nearby apartment complex (more on why later) and see what the apartments there were like. Turns out as it is just about a mile walk from Aunt E and the Elf Lord's house, so that's very good. We were shown a one-bedroom apartment, although since a two-bedroom is actually only 35$ more we'll probably go for that. Currently the plan is for the boy to send me some money to cover a couple months' rent in advance and the deposits, me to work in the store and live here for a bit, and then we'll try and move in by Imbolc (Feb 2 for all you people like the boy who is reading over my shoulder and going 'what is that? you made that up'). I think we may actually be able to pull that off, too, is the slightly scary part. Scary more because I'd be living alone for a bit than anything else. Also, apartment. My first apartment that I'd be moving into essentially on my own (plus the whole Serpent Stone family, so, not so much) and living in on my own until the boy moves down. Eek.
Um. So, today, didn't get downtown to see the store and everyone who might be there but did get the truck unloaded and everything where it should be. Went to Bear Creek apartments and looked around, got an application, talked to them a bit and asked a few questions. Then we did some job hunting for the boy, some locating things for me, and returned the truck. Got lunch at a burrito place that is, I suppose, Asheville's equivalent of a Chipotle and also located a sub place and a Chinese food place whose quality has yet to be tested. But, yay?
And then we came back home and pretty much sat around for a bit, looked at a map of downtown to see where we want to go tomorrow. I think tomorrow's plan, since we're getting the car for the boy to drive back pretty early, is to get the car and then drive downtown and drive or walk around there and see what's there. I know I do have to get my PO box, but I know where the post office is in relation to the store now so that won't be too hard. And there's a used bookstore I want to drag the boy by, and a couple of other places that look interesting. And then, I think, there will be hanging out at the store and meeting people I don't know time, and getting reacquainted with people I haven't seen in a while and so on.
Project Asheville is off to a somewhat ominous (more on that later, again) but pretty good start, I think! YAY.
