kittydesade: (fandom - the covenant)
Prompt: Worry
Fandom: The Covenant
Characters: Pogue, Caleb, Reid and Tyler in the background
Word Count: 1,276
Rating: PG-13 for one naughty word
Summary: Pogue could spend all his life worrying and it still might not be enough.
A/N: Written for the [livejournal.com profile] libraryofwinds weekly challenge

It was at the funeral, standing around with his hands in his pockets and a leather jacket he'd have to grow into covering his bony wrists, that he first realized it. The funeral wasn't even real and Caleb was standing there looking stunned. As though he was the one who had 'died' and not his father.

It was the first time it hit them, at least, he wasn't sure if it was hitting Reid. Tyler was Tyler, nothing fazed him, nothing rattled him. Nothing connected to them, at least. Things were what they were and that was good enough for Tyler, as long as he had the protection of his boys.

But Reid's hands were curled tight around each other, held tight to his chest. Pogue couldn't remember seeing him so huddled before.

Title: Be Still My Beating Heart
Fandom: Harry Potter
Characters: Ginny, Blaise
Word Count: 3,004
Rating: PG
Summary: Blaise and Ginny have a very strange relationship. Album!Fic to Nothing Like The Sun
A/N: Slightly late Christmas present for [livejournal.com profile] nopejr. Merry Christmas!

There wasn't enough room in the library for the two of them, him and his ego. Ginny rolled her eyes at the way he was staring at her, like he was so much better because he came from a Wizarding family that didn't consort with Mudbloods. But now that she thought about it, that was a good line. Not that bit, the bit about him and his ego. Too bad they weren't actually talking, she would have used it.

Ginny flushed a little at the thought. What was she doing, too bad they weren't actually talking. Either she was becoming like Ron, which was bad, taking any excuse to bait the Slytherins. Or worse, she was paying more attention to Blaise than he really deserved.

He slammed his books closed with an objectionable sound and stormed to the exit and Ginny realized she'd been staring. Stupid girl. Stupid little girl. He was just a boy, and a particularly nasty boy at that.

Ponytail flouncing, fingers tapping on her books. Study did not come easy for the rest of the afternoon.

As you may have noticed, I've been much with the writing lately. Mostly fanfic, but I have some novel edits I need to do, along with some query letters. It's almost amazing that I've gotten as much done as I have over the holiday weekend, what with presents to squee over and DVDs to watch. I will, however, claim that Pogue's helmet is inspiring me. And then I will giggle like the madwoman I am.

In addition to the fics you have seen there are chunks of several other fics to go up over the next few days. Also, by Sunday, there should be an update on KittySpace! Woo! As always, errors pointed out will result in drabbles. Yes, actual drabbles, because as we've discovered I have a hard time writing short fiction and I need to practice. Since long fiction has a turn-around time of anywhere between two weeks to two months. I suck as a deadline-meeter. Or at least I did. Kind of actually working my way towards meeting my personal deadline in terms of getting things out to agents by the beginning of this year. I'm not sure how I'm managing to do this. But I am.

My [livejournal.com profile] yuletide fics have been received and read by all but one recipient, or at least, I think one recipient hasn't read his or hers. They might be out of town, or they might be just not commenting for a bit. Not sure which. Also am kind of sad and depressed because my fics are getting very few comments and no recs. I feel unloved! Whine and wail.

Hey, you know what else isn't getting any love? [livejournal.com profile] skippyslist. Hint hint. Not, y'knw, that you should neglect holiday duties to peruse LJ.

Okay, angsting time over. I'm getting fics done, written, worked on, other fics done. This is a good thing. I'm clearing out my list of crap to do (and, of course, adding more stuff onto it) and finishing a bunch of fics I promised people months ago. Hey, only two months. A little over two months. That's not so bad, is it? Yeah, it kind of is. But the last set of prompts is almost done. I have discovered that I cannot, in fact, write House/Wilson. Mea maxima culpa, [livejournal.com profile] cracklizard. However, I can write House-Wilson that, if you squint at it really hard, might be shippy. I can't help it! I'm just not a compulsive slasher. I can do Jack/Anyone, because that's canon. I can do Angel/Wesley, 'cause that's one-sided canon and Angel's a clueless puppy. I can do Daemon/Lucivar 'cause that's implied canon and they're both just a little bit dodgy in the brainpan. I can write a few other pairings if I try hard enough but most of the time just. Eh. Whatever.

Especially incest. And twincest. There is only one fandom in which I will write twincest, and even then it wouldn't be hardcore smut. Just kind of touching and intimacy and psychosis, because damn, they're fucked up. Some of you know what this is. Others of you will have to wait and read the damn book.

Anyway. Getting sidetracked. Writing is continuing! I'm starting to gear up for next year's sewing projects, too. And towards that end, I am creating a ginormous database of pattern information. Fabric yardage required, what sizes I have, notes on the patterns, and most valuable: what kinds of trim I need and how much of it I need. It is so much slower going than I expected! But so far I have come to the conclusion that, as Renne Faire season rolls around, I am going to buy huge amounts of bulk ribbon and ties and things. Because, damn. Also? Eyelets. Goddamn. I found a bodice that requires 110 eyelets. Just. Holyshit.

Jan and Feb, though, are Clean Out Project Boxes and Corsets month. I have a skirt I need to hem, a pair of bloomers I need to make, and a coat I need to make. And that's just off the top of my head. Oh, and two skirts to finish. As soon as the tree comes down, the sewing table goes up. Then, probably, I can rest for a bit on the sewing till ... say, June. Then it's Renne Faire prep time.

... I've rambled on far longer than I meant to. And I'm sure you all didn't really need to know this, but you know I babble. So, in conclusion, ladies and jellyspoons. Sewing = Yay! Writing = Yay! Jag = Productive! New Year = Hopefully off to a good start!

Prompt Me!

Okay! Four fics in the pipe (Harry Potter/The Covenant, Dennis + The Doctor in the style of [name deleted], Sam vs the Moral Majority, and Sam vs Titian's first boyfriend, for the curious) and that means it's time to prompt me again, lest I lose steam and fall over! However, since I also have a hideous backlog of crap to write, this prompt post is limited.

The first ten people to reply to this post get to pick an as-yet-unselected prompt from either the Big Damn Table or the Big Damn List. (The basic prompt for the Big Damn List is Someone Enters or Someone Leaves.)

Go!
