May. 21st, 2005 11:45 amOh look! Another actual entry! Maybe I should get back into the habit of this.
Birthday went well. Star Wars was... I have no eloquent reviews. It was both better written and more tightly put together than the first two. It was also a bad sign that I kept looking at my watch to see how much time was left.
The list o' loot: A pinstripe fedora, a knit rasta hat, Roswell seasons 1 and 2, a PC Hodgell book I'd been wanting, a couple bags from my family (silly people that they are, I guess this is replacing toe socks and underwear as random useful yet not because I already have so many gift), Vallejos (mini paints) including... well, I'll get to that later. The first 3 Sin City comics. And beaucoup gift certs totalling 150$ to various bookstores and 80$ to Best Buy (electronics, for those of y'all overseas).
The mini paints were kinda funny. Wacky and ... it's the... what was it. 8 pounds of coffee kinda gift. The Vallejos come in small bottles. I've used maybe half of the Medium Olive painting all the damn orcs. Which I think is about thirty. Call it forty just to be sure, because there were some orc NPCs in there. And painting random other shit, but I don't paint anything quite so
whoa. low flying plane.
Quite so much green as the orcs. So. Vallejos. So I e-mail my Mom, and I say, Mom, I could use some of these colors whicha re ones I don't have already, and I'm running out of Med Olive. Which, Mom, the last two times she got me paints, she knew enough to really only get one of each color. Somehow I wound up with two Black, Pastel Blue, and Basic Skintone, but I think that's since I started paint swapping with people here. My AUNT, on the other hand, was buying the paints this year.
So I got ... like, 8 bottles of Med Olive and 8 bottles of the other paint I use a lot, for just about anything woodlike. Wookgrain. I don't know why it's called Wookgrain, or at least labeled so, but it is.
And then I got 2 or three bottles of a bunch of other colors, but the bulk of those are colors I'd use a lot, like sand or leather or something. So.
SO it looks like I'm going to be painting a LOT of terrain! Or something. Or ginormous orc armies. I love you, Aunt B :)
Anyway. Um. Birthday went okay. Game last night went okay. Finished up the four-armed thing that turned out to be a Rakshasa and the Orc War Chief. And now I suddenly find myself with a lot less shit to paint, since the boyfriend hasn't yet given me his list for next game. Other than "evil looking shit." So. Heh. Well, less painting time, more posting time! Also mroe writing time. Since I should so be writing. *hides from certain people*
I found my copy of Benny (Bennie?) and the Jets. I cannot listen to that song anymore.
I'm swaying between Never mind. I had mint chip ice cream cake! WOOT!
And now I have painting and relaxing and posting and writing and watching Roswell and a much lighter work schedule at the dayjob. Which for some reason I typed out looking like blowjob. Hmm.
An' all will be well, an' all will be well, an' all manner o' things will be well.
