Aug. 11th, 2004 02:57 pmAll right, now that I don't think I'm going to jinx it anymore... I can say it.
I have a job! Finally.
At least I'm pretty sure I have a job. I have a chance at a job, and I doubt I'm going to lose it. I made it through the first interview and into the drug test (which, yeah, me, drug test, pshaw) and then after that is orientation and training. It's seasonal work, but after that they're going to keep on a little over half to three quarters of the workers, so that's good. Plus they sound like they're planning on keeping me already because I speak bazillions of languages and the company takes calls internationally. Ys, takes calls. It's call center work, taking orders over the phone for a catalog company. The catalog's all furniture and decorations for rich people. The kind of crap my grandma and grandpa used to get catalogs for. Booring. But hey, it's a job. It's a part time job, which means I write as well. And the bf got the job, too, which means hopefully we're both going to be bringing in money come this time next year.
Which, yes, for those of you who have been following the saga, means it's time to get my driver's license. Ugh. The suspense and sheer nervous terror is killing me. Never mind that I've been driving around with .. just a learner's permit. Uh-huh. For ages. I know the road test and I know the written and I need to get the car registered and bleh. So much to do. And then, I swear. The first three things I'm going to buy once I start getting paid? (paid training is so cool, btw) a tune-up for my poor car, a new computer even if I have to get it second hand off e-bay. Probably a laptop, or maybe a laptop and a new desktop unit, depending on how 'spensive they both are. I want to spend no more than 750. And ... ooh. I could sell my old laptop... Naaah. But. Yeah. A tune-up, a new computer, and Dragon NaturallySpeaking. 'cause, my hands. oh my hands.
But... yeah! Job! Granted, this means I'll be off TM for a good portion of the day, and I'll have to cut down on some threads so I can write and TM at the same time. Ugh. Schedule juggling. But, yeah. Job = money. Money = good. And if my boyfriend's brother can do this with only minimum of hassle I can do it. And if he hates it, that means I'll probably love it. Since... mrrgh. I won't say it. But I don't like him.
Yeah. Woot. Year of the Monkey. This is my year. Things are slowly looking up. Now, if I can just get Different finished and out before I start... which, o yeah. Poll for the title of that novel.
[Poll #334475]
So, yeah. Or if you have another suggestion, leave it in the comments. I think most of you have read the damn thing. Vespurrs, it's the Julien novel. At some point I'll link you to a table of contents to the first draft. It's changed a lot since the first draft, guys, but the sequence of events and the main events are pretty much the same. I smooshed a couple of extraneous characters into one and swapped out a few events for a few more plausible ones, but that's about it.
Hmm. I think that's all the news that's fit to type. And now, back to work I go. And possibly the movies.
