So I think I'm all caught up on my writing. Thank the Goddess. We didn't have to go to J & J's this afternoon, as J!Elder was sick. Something to do with his sinuses. And, more worryingly, something to do with a biopsy on his lymph nodes. The first thing I remember learning about cancer is that once it spreads to your lymph nodes, you're pretty much fucked. I don't know if that's still true but it's still worrying.
On the plus side, Riddick comes out on Friday. Still dubious about the two big honking plot pitfalls, ( Which I will cut in case you don't want to know ) I suppose they could make it plausible and non-cheesy, but somehow I just don't see it. Somehow I think I'm going to end up wishing they'd just left it at Pitch Black. Although it will definitely be worth it just to see Vin Diesel wander around with shiny eyeballs and beat the shit out of people.
I should be writing anyway. Almost done. I hate this, I'm blocked on this one novel and all I can think of is a Trip to the Land of Back Story. Which sort of worked, since I still haven't figured out just what the hell happened to create the current situation, but it's still sloppy writing. I have to keep reminding myself, draft copy. It's a draft copy. It's by no means the finished product, it's not what I'm going to submit, and as long as I have a complete story with a beginning, a middle, and an end of roughly the right length at the end of the month, I win. But damn, it's hard.
But the Trip to the Land Back Story did sort of work.
And I really need a better name than Phineas Kennerly. I like the Phineas, but I need a better last name for the evil old fuck. And a timeline. I need a goddamn timeline.
Storms on and off today. Fortunately none of the kind that disrupt the electricity and do funky things to computers. But I did wind up turning the computer off for about an hour. And then whinging about not being able to write. Still, I'm managing to get around 7k words done per day, on average. I should be ready for a good 10 k by the time Nanowrimo comes around. Mua ha ha ha ha.
