Ah, I do love spending Christmas with my family. :)

At first there was going to be this whole big political discussion thing in here, but then on the way home it just got blown out of the water by the hilarity that resulted when...

Well.

My mother had a second tv in the house, but she was storing it at my aunt's house for reasons I still haven't straightened out. Tonight she wanted it back because everyone and their cousin was coming over for Christmas festivities. So she brings it out to the car, sets it in what we all figured to be the trunk, and comes back in and we all get ready to leave. My brother and my sister (who are both bigger than I am) and I all come out to the car. To find the tv taking up the better part of the backseat. There is one seat's worth of room left in the economy sized car. For me, my brother, and my sister, since my aunt and my mother are driving/riding shotgun.

Uh. No.

So my brother and sister and I rag on my mother for the next hour and a half about this. I even offered to stay at my aunt's (which, really, not bad) and my mother sounded like she was going to take me up on it, which cued off more snarky comments from all three of us. I do love my siblings. *waves to her sister* It was hilarious. I couldn't stop laughing the whole way home. And there was also an amusing story about a beach, a hole for the planting of a palm tree, and my mother. Apparently she fell in the hole and actually walked forward a little before realizing that she was in a hole. Soooo much hilarity. So much laughter. I love my family.

The funny part is, too, that we're all in town for Christmas. All of us except two cousins. I think it's the first time we've all been in the same town for any holiday since Grandmaman died. It's kind of nice. I like the fact that I can always feel like I'm coming home when I come home. If that makes sense. I'm pretty sure it will make sense to some people.

And there was a 10 pound chocolate bar.

It's also a funny thing... whenever I'm around my family for an extended period of time, even a few days, suddenly my Spanish-speaking abilities increase by a factor of 10 for every family member that's around. My aunts, my mother, my uncle, they all speak Spanish because of growing up in Spanish-speaking countries. It's ... almost nice. It's like coming home... not just the Spanish-speaking, but everything else, the discussions. It's like I suddenly get a booster shot of fine culture and bohemian intelligensia. Mmm.

And that is all for tonight, really. I'm going to make an early night of it, I think, because I've been getting up at 1 or 2 lately, and tomorrow I get woken up at 11 to open presents. Last few years I've been the one to get woken up, instead of the one who does the waking. What a switch. :)

And after all, there's only one more sleep till Christmas.
