kittydesadeIt's been a mixed day. A day of ups and downs. But now I'm at the boyfriend's place, eating ice cream, probably going to go upstairs and snuggle soon. So it's not that bad.
Got my rejection letter from Avon. Which isn't that bad, since I technically do have a job. But it's a job I hate. A lot. And it's a job I want to get out of. And Avon would have paid 12.something something an hour. Which would have been very nice.
Mustn't dwell. Mustn't get down. If I make it at this job for a little while I could go back to school and get a teaching certificate and teach. And that would be good.
Wandering around on FanFiction.net... which, yes, is a travesty. But it's an amusing travesty. And I am becoming slightly more adept at slogging through the waste piles for the few good fics there. But I did discover something... an upside. There's an anti-Mary Sue revolution going on on fanfic.net! A small one, at least. Possibly confined to the LXG fandom. The downside to that is that all of the revolutionaries themselves can't type. Or spell. One of the two. They have mediocre grammar and are actually in some cases worse writers than the writers their flaming. The Mary Sues on the LXG fandom on fanfic.net actually have rather good writing skills. They just have Mary Sues for OCs.
The amusing part about this (and rather annoying and faintly hurtful) is that I'm being targeted by one of the revolutionaries... one who is currently tossing around a (mistyped) link to![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
moony_girl13 's Mary Sue Litmus Test for LXG. Amusing, because dammit, I helped proof that! Amusing also because it's mistyped. Annoying and faintly hurtful because, dammit, this is the one story I've written that has no OCs! None! I have no OCs in this story whatsoever. Every character in the damn thing is either a canon character (in one case tweaked so that he has a name) or an author inclusion. And by author I don't mean me, I mean author from the time.
Ah well.
Over the weekend I'll update the story. That and Understanding. I'll write a couple more chapters and post them on FF.net if nothing else, and hopefully by the time I have all five author inclusions (possibly six) it will be blatantly obvious that these are not Mary Sue characters, but authors. And if it isn't, well, shame on them for not recognizing them.
Not much else to say. I should read Death Comes in Packs again, I felt sorry for the author for getting so many flames and left a huge review, and promised I'd finish reading and leave a more informed review later. I must have been out of my mind, but oh well. At least it's not that badly written. Just Mary Sued.
Ok, time to go snog the bf.
