Made it to the top of page 38 in Twilight Watch today, which is a fucking miracle because, having blogged a blog post, suddenly my brain went YES. AND NOW MAKE BLACK ICE AVAILABLE IN DEAD TREE FORM AND FINISH WHITE LIGHTING AND DO THE HAVEN BLOG POST AND NERD GIRLS AND SANDBORN AND WRITE ALL THE THINGS. And then I took a breath and sat back and looked at my brain and went "What the fuck are you on. Did you bring enough to share with the rest of the body? No? Then sit back down and shut the fuck up."

On the plus side I'm ... not so much learning as getting accustomed to seeing the uses of каждый and который, enough to where by the end of this chapter I think they'll be fully integrated. It's definitely the small words around everything that's getting more work, which isn't a bad thing. I can learn bigger words, more specific single use nouns and verbs, by memorization. Also fun phrases, like I learned (even if Google translate choked on giving me an actual fucking translation that looked right) that браки по залету means, if I have this right, shotgun wedding. Or the semantic equivalent thereof. I need to memorize that now even if I don't use it in writing for the next five years. It amuses me.

Oof. Dear god, that was a surge of adrenaline. No, I am not doing all the things today, I am working on a Haven post, Deli Counter, and then if I still have energy left over, something in the Black Ice world, either White Lightning or one of the dime novels. Russian seems to have calmed down the brainpan some, though. It helps because I have to focus so hard on it.

I'm also having an inexplicable urge to knit, which I ascribe to the fucking coldass weather. I have spinning to do, first, though. Knitting can happen later. This is particularly ill-timed as all my damn needles are at home, except the ones I'm using for a project that is not what I want to knit. Self, if you want to knit, finish the goddamn project you have on needles at the moment. Or bring more needles to work tomorrow.

Wednesday Reads consists of, I read the first book in the Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries actual book series and liked it very much, even if it's clearly not quite the television series. Which is about the best outcome I could hope for, really. I like both of them! I will read more of them as soon as I continue reading down my list of crap on my Kindle that I've never gotten around to reading. Leisure crap, not study crap. I'm still gnawing on Graves' leg. Tastes of pretension.

(Also, for my own future reference because there is no way in heaven, hell, or Sleepy Hollow purgatory I will remember this: the Kenzie-Gennaro novels start with A Drink Before The War. So, self, that is what you are reading next. Remember it.)
