Déan, to make or do, is also used idiomatically with specific nouns to convey meanings that in English would require separate verbs, because see also English has all the words. Simple verbs may also exist, but the idioms tend to be preferred. (By whom? Ugh stupid language being a changing mutating thing.)

déan dochar - harm
déan obair - work
déan deifir - hurry
déan aithris ar - imitate

Déan also combines with directional adverbs and prepositions for idiomatic meanings.
déan amach - conclude, figure out
déan as - take off, get away
déan ar (áit) - head for, approach
déan a bheag de (rud) - belittle (something)

Remember that ith is also an irregular verb only in the future, where the stem is íos. THERE WILL BE A QUIZ.


Yeah, that's all for this morning, I seem to have emergency cooking to attempt or something if the boy's going to go in early tonight and fuck it's cold.

It may be Jewish jambalaya tonight; I want to use up the chicken I defrosted before the boy got more, but I've made most of my quick easy doesn't require special trips to the grocery recipes, didn't quite anticipate the boy going to the grocery last night so didn't add anything to the list, and I have not nearly enough tomato/coconut product to make proper curry sauces. Which is what I actually wanted. Poop. Maybe I can make it with a white sauce base instead of the cream-and-yogurt. On the plus side, after talking to the boy, it turns out I didn't miss his scheduled grocery trip after all, he just took a wild hair. Sure, why not. It's on the way.

SLEEPY HOLLOW. OMGWTF I DID NOT SEE THAT COMING. No, really, I totally didn't see any of that coming and given that I've only become more sensitive to plot directions after a year plus of Murderboarding, that's actually kind of impressive. Holy jeez. That goes with the theme of family, though. And I really hope next season opens with the Mills sisters kicking ten kinds of ass. I can say no more.

I got a curry experiment to do and beans to mash and stuff.

I can't wait till the polar vortex shit is over. I mean, I know it's winter and all, but this is a good ten-twenty degrees colder than it usually is and fuck everything I want my spring again.
