I saw Silence and Red Dragon and loved both of them. And then I saw Hannibal and that was okay, but at the same time, gratuitous enough that I was very nervous about reading the book? (More due to quality than squemishness). And then I did read the book and decided that he'd written the characters so far off what he'd started them as that this was not my beloved FBI agent anymore, this was not my love to fear him villain, and I was never touching it again. So, yeah.
