The first part about learning Japanese is learning its alphabet, so the first couple lessons will be dialogue and vocab to get used to the idea of reading in this other alphabet. Wiki has a good chart, and Memrise has some courses as well.
Here is some dialogue!
Sumimasen. Ima, nanjidesuka. // Excuse me. What time is it now?
Jyuunijihan-desu. // It's half past twelve.
Arigatou gozaimasu. // Thank you very much.
Iie. // It's nothing.
Ano, ryuugakuseidesuka. // Um, are you an international student?
Ee. Arizona-daigakuno gakuseidesu. // Yes. I am a student of the University of Arizona.
Soudesuka. Senmon-wa nandesuka. // I see. What is your major?
Nihongodesu. Ima, ninenseidesu. // Japanese (language). I am a sophomore (second-year) now.
Here. Let's try this thing where I type up my lessons and maybe that'll keep me honest!
