I don't suppose there's any way to simplify the learning of the nuance particles? I'm still having issues figuring out where 'doch' goes, translating to the German.
Not that I can think of. I'm fluent in English, and I don't know how to translate them directly. They are such vague things, and in spoken language you so very often throw in a whole bunch of them, like three in the same sentence, and none are *strictly* necessary for the core meaning, but you often feel horribly rude and curt if you leave them out. A bit like spoken emoticons, maybe. I think you just have to listen to a lot of spoken German and get a feeling for where they go, and what they express.
